At least you were pretty consistent.
  • Where did all those coins come from? What holders and grades, if any! That would make for a good read. Anyway, you are right. The 2.5 Indian is tough to grade.

Did you pay AU or MS money for the coins?

Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value---zero."----Voltaire
"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire

  • OK........ This is about to get strange......... Do you ask Wal-mart what they pay for a jar of pickles or a television set ???? There are somethings that should go un-said / un-asked here. "What did you pay?" is one of them. Suffice to say that the seller was paid a very fair price for the coins. I did not strong arm them away from a needy widow or orphan......... Memo: Coin dealers work on more than the bid/ask spreads (ESPECIALLY brick & mortar types). I have been "open" for just over 1 year at my "brick & mortar" shop, and I have an impeccable reputation for honesty AND for paying the highest prices within a 1 hour drive. Contrary to popular belief, this IS a JOB !!!!!

Edited to add:......... If I said AU money, there are those here that would accuse me of ripping the 63........ That is why somethings are better left un-said image

Longtime: I didn't see any insinuation that you had rooked anyone out of anything. Eagle7 was merely curious as to the nature of your frowny face--did you pay MS money for coins that came back AU when you submitted? These coins are notoriously difficult to grade at AU58-MS62. So, perhaps you're being unnecessarily defensive here.

For my part, I thought you were a collector who had walked into the shop you depicted, and overpaid for the coins. Maybe I read too fast, but it wasn't clear to me that you own the shop.

In any case, his wanting to know what you paid for the coins--you could merely say Greysheet bid or something rather than be specific--is a logical question in view of of the information you provided.

I hope that you didn't get too buried in them.

I understand your reply, but I think that the question was more innocent than you took it.

Plus, if you post stuff like that on the forum, you know that smoeone is gonna ask the question. image

Interesting in that today I picked up a nice 1912 MS62 $2-1/2 from a group graded AU58 to MS63. I liked this one the best.
