    The 3 big DDO's, 1955, 1958 and 1969S are all this bold.
    No missing these babies.

That's probably because of the Red Book picture. People think they've found them because so many 1969-S cents have doubling on the date.

Great pictures. I agree the Red Book makes it seem that the DDO is minor.

While I might agree on the technical aspect of the grade it is still the most awesome 1969-S DDO cent I have ever seen. Stewart's ability to ferret these great coins out is "gem" in my opinion.

1969-S DDO cents do usually look awful and I have never seen a nice looking one for the grade!

Better have DEEP pockets! In that kind of condition I think they are in the mid five figures. Even in lower grade most of them are probably high four or low five figures. (I believe. I don't follow these.) I think there are less than 30 pieces known.

It looks 65 to me but the grade isn't so important on this coin I would think.

I agree on both counts. I see nothing about the coin that would preclude the MS65 grade, and who cares anyway?

I think that a 65Red would run well into 6 figures.

This cleaned and retoned one sold at ANR, I think in December, for over $30k!!

Very, very rare coin. And the Stewart Blay coin looks fantastic! With only about 25 - 30 known, even if less than half have been discovered, the mintage had to be less than 100. In 1969, it took maybe a minute to make 100 pennies. We're still not sure why so few are known; does anyone have any good theories on this?

They may have made thousands until they discovered the problem. They destroyed the rest but about 50-200 may have been already gone thru to other bins or bags.

Second theory is that a mint worker made a couple hundred and then dumped 30-50 into bags and circulation to cover their tracks. Someone may have them in their safe deposit box waiting to leak them out or someone inherited them and does not know they are there.
