What to do if you ordered a Cherrypickers Guide Vol 4 from J.T. Stanton

I'm staring a new thread with this information, just to keep it separate from the sniping going on in the other thread.
I just hung up the phone with Dawn Burbank of Whitman Publishing. The long-awaited Volume 2 of the Fourth Edition of the Cherrypickers Guide will be published in early May (not late April as I was told earlier). They are in the process of scanning images and recompiling the text.
If you purchased a pre-publication copy of this book from J.T. Stanton, here is what you have to do:
You need to call the customer service center of Whitman Publishing at (800) 546-2995, and tell them that you ordered a copy of the book from J.T. They are compiling a list of names and addresses, which will be cross-checked against records J.T. is supplying to Whitman Publishing. If your name is on J.T.'s list, then Whitman will send you your book. If your name is not in the records given to Whitman, then it will be forwarded to J.T. for him to research, and you will then have to take it up with him. The way I understand it, Whitman is not filling the orders for J.T., but rather shipping them out on his behalf.
Now.... Dawn did say to me that they do not have the complete list of names yet, but they expect to receive them within the next week. I expressed that, based on the situations leading up to their acquisition of the rights to the book, I was concerned whether they would ever recieve that list from J.T. in the first place. I was told that the president of Whitman Publishing was working directly with J.T and that they were very confident that his records would be forthcoming and complete. I asked again if they had any contingency in place if the list never materialized, and her response was that Whitman's primary concern is to make sure their customers are satisfied and they would work with those individuals on the list to make them satisfied.
I told Dawn that I planned to share the details of our conversation with other collectors who had contacted me in regards to the book, and she was fine with me posting this information for others to read. She was also going to fill in the CSMs working the phones with the same information. Anyone with any questions about this post should probably direct them to whomever answers your call at Whitman.

I didn't pre-order so your work doesn't directly benefit me, but I did want to tell you "thank you" for taking the initiative and positiveness to make the call and take a few minutes out of your own time!
And, you didn't even b*tch and moan while doing it (unlike some people).
Very cool of you to make the calls and post the info!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Just called and gave them my info. Had to give them my OLD and new address since I've moved since that time.
Just an FYI. . .
I prepaid via PayPal to JT so I went into PayPal and found I can pull up my transaction history back to July 31, 2003 and find the transaction where I prepaid JT for the book. It just gives me a little more evidence, other than some email from long ago, and it's something that would be a bit harder to dispute.
Cool!

<< <i>Just thought I'd bump this one more time for the overnight crew. I'm honored that no one has felt the need to quote the entire first post in case I decided to go back and edit it.

We only do that to CoinCop

I just got off the phone with them myself and they confirmed all that was stated here. They
expect to ship the book in April. I almost asked if that would be the 1st of April.
Thanks again, Sean!

Don't worry......she'll certainly publish something now that you've done the work.

<< <i>Sean, I thank you for sharing this information, I was aware of this partly due to a C-W article, good looking-out for all involved. >>
Do you remember when you read it in Coin World, and if this thread in particular was mentioned? I was half-kidding when I waved to Beth Deischer earlier in this thread, it would be hysterical if they actually quoted it.

Kudos to you for your diligence in this matter.
I remember that whole ANA saga and the words that flew around here certainly had an impact on those in the ANA. I am certain these threads are monitored. I read certain issues of Numismatic News with regard to the naming of the museum (blah blah), and several questions brought up right here, were DIRECTLY answered in one of those articles.

<< <i>Any idea what happens to those on the list of names that have paid but aren't aware they're supposed to call in. Will they be mailed a book anyway? Seems like that would be the appropriate thing.

They need to turn it over to QDB. It would be done in a month! He seems to write books 24/7.
