Can The Toning On Morgans Be Cleaned?

There are pretty toned morgans and nasty looking toned morgans, the nasty rim toned morgans are the ones I hope there is a way to clean, can you use any silver cleaner, can you use tarn/x? I was thinking of using Kaboom? let me know thanks.

OK, just in case this is an honest question ---
Rim toning on mint state Morgans is generally considered desireable, and frequently gives the coin an attractive "original" look. Dipping such coins will almost always decrease their eye appeal, and consequently, their value.
Unattractively toned coins, or coins with environmental damage (PVC, smoke, lacquer) SOMETIMES can be improved from dipping or conservation. Very valuable coins should be professionally conserved by NCS. If you want to try dipping yourself, do a forum search on "dipping" or "cleaning" and you will find discussion of all kinds of situations. Practice on pocket change or cheap coins first. The most commonly used "dips" are Acetone, MS-70, and "Jeweluster" -- any other harsh cleaner (such as Baking Soda, tarn x, Kaboom, etc) is generally not recommended.

<< <i>Can someone enlighten me on what "kaboom" is?
It is a household cleaner in a purple bottle. Nothing cleans grout lines in the bathroom better than this stuff!!
Well, if a nice uncirculated coin has been dipped properly, then you probably won't be able to tell. However, a great number of white raw morgans on ebay have been stripped to death and look lifeless and dull. With practice, one can become better at differentiating between flashy white and lame white. Or just buy nicely toned coins.....
