A glaring example of eBay failing in their responsibility to protect bidders.

    russ,

that person has so many neg feedbacks going back months.

if a person feels comfortable with that type of seller, i really do not feel bad.

i also bet so many of those negs are over 3-5 dollar items that took 1-2 months
to arrive. did that not used to be normal? 4-6 weks for shipping?

i do not want people ripped off, but come on, they should not have bid with
a seller who has feedback like that.

Seller can still boast a 99% feedback rate based on over 10,000 total replies. I have 2 negs from one Coin firm for stating that they sold overhyped coins and I'm at 96%.

you are right roadrunner. i misinterpreted the feedback.

the way i go about it is to use firefox, a web browser, that has a plugin
    called ebay neg or something.

i just open up all the negs and laughed. i imagine the recent bidders did not
have the luxury of seeing them all.

edited to add: i take that back. krissycoins ticks of 80 people every few months.
i would never send them a check for 200+ dollars.

Not for long. They're doing exactly the same thing they did with the first account. Take good care of bidders for a while to rack up the positives, then the negatives starting rolling in and continue to accelerate.

do you feel they are using stock photos and do not have items until they get the money and then try to get the item?

I remember some gold bullion sellers who got in big trouble when gold prices went up by not having item when listed, or when item closed

Relayer, is your first link to a Katrina affected seller? The 1st positive I came to said they got a full refund after Katrina. Has anybody come across a scam where the seller was "iffy" and all of a sudden claimed they were being affected by one of the recent hurricanes when they actually weren't?

I begged eBay to do something about this guy months ago. They ignored my pleas. Thank god he only took me for a 1964 mint set.

  • What does it take to get people to stop bidding with sellers like this. Is it greed in that they think that they are getting something cheap. I have noticed on Ebay that no or low bids on an item means it's junk or a scam in most cases. This guy was still getting bids on items with a feedback score of 85.3% before he was NARUed.

    Bad Seller

Another thing to do is to not be afraid to leave feedback for bad sellers. One of the feedbacks for kirbybird was a neutral for item not received. What would it take to receive a negative from this person? Yes buyer should be aware but buyer should also use a little of their brain power when buying on Ebay. If it looks too good it probably is. Why would e-Bay care to waste their time on peanut sellers that deserve to get paid from DUUMMMBBBBB bidders.

Wow, rafaelcoins made off with some serious money. Did he get prosecuted? The Katrina excuse could've flown had he not continued scamming people into mid October.

A sucker born every day, with that fact, we will always have folks like this.

Great work by Russ for rooting these folks out.

This board is great for that.

Almost need to get E-Bay to appoint Russ head scam finder, and even pay him a few bucks...becasue profit is good.

  • I think I just got ripped off from a seller named deadwood on some australian silver dollers. I just emailed them.

Do you guys have a running list of bad ebay'ers.

I have been checking on some members ebay links for some coins.

  • If not specifically Russ (sure he spends lots of time busting eBay scammers, but can he contribute all of his time?), eBay should hire people to constantly troll for rip offs. It would make their entire "community" much more reputable.

The local police let him go. The Postal Inspectors are building a Federal case against him.

Hopefully they'll have a warrant issued in a couple of months and they'll see if they can find him and arrest him if they're lucky.

If so, he'll get probation in exchange for negotiating restitution for pennies on the dollar on all of the money he stole (about $25,000)
