  • Show us pictures!! That's such a neat coin compared to the tens of thousands of Morgan CC's! I've never been disappointed with a coin from RCNH--they really seem to find high quality original material.image

Contrary to what some of you seem to think, I am of the opinion that RCNH can be a rather large pain in the butt.....

  • I have dealt with RCNH and Paul Battaglia for 10 years now and and very impressed with the professional service they provide. Many thanks. I was going to post 2 pictures of coins from them but couldn't manage to get it done but did manage a link to my Registry Set where the pictures are posted.

How are the coin prices at RCNH?

MacJeff - nope, I don't think they'd get tired of it. I've bought both cheep ($10-20) and expensive (for me) at $600+ from them. I've seen coins at $50,000 on their site. But every time I call with the most piddly request I am treated very well - always.

As far as overall prices, as Bowers has always said that's nothing without also considering quality. You can find SUCH an abundance of great coins there and an equal lack of attitude it's no wonder I tend to look there first. Many of the most original coins I can conceive of in my collection, have come from them. The only downside is it tends to make my "stuff" pale in comparison - oh well, I guess I'm not a box of twenty type, though I think that's a pretty good idea...

Oh, and never any pressure of any kind if they find a wantlist item, but for one reason or another you don't super like it - that's been my experience.

In sum, they are ridiculously good. image Plus, a small edit fer spelin' erroars.

BTW Dave, very nice (rare!) coins on your site. image
  • Hello Original Is Best: Your name is their motto.

Warren Mills, the owner and driving force behind the company, loves original coins and is a tough grader. I've had amazing success upgrading the coins he sold me.

They get a five star rating from me.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for with RCNH. At the same time, their prices are reasonable considering that many consider them the absolute best, on all fronts, in the coin market.

They are part of the extremely small group of dealers that make up the standard of true excellence that the rest strive to join.

True story - I wanted a top of the line, more than PQ, toned Alabama 2x2 in PCGS. They had it on my want list for over a year. I had not found one on my own. One day, Jon Rosenthal emails me that they had one. Someone else had put it on layaway over a year ago and RCNH forgot about it. They rediscovered it during an inventory and contacted the original buyer who was no longer interested. Warren asked Jon to tell me that "this is the coin I should buy".

Bought it sight unseen, no questions asked and at the price they asked.

It is, without a doubt, the best 2z2 I have ever seen. It sits in a 65 slab and it would get a 66 without a doubt if I were a crackout kind of guy. Razor sharp strike, very attractive toning and numbing luster along with that.

RCNH is part of the very small group of dealers who have gone beyond a business relationship and are friends.

I think the fact that this thread did not end up attracting negative posts from any forum members, says a great deal about how good RCNH is. The law of averages alone, should have been good for one or two negatives (deserved or otherwise) from someone here.image

They truely are the best and I was glad to recommend them. I just purchased a 1871 PCGS Indian from them this week after paying off the 77 Indian I bought. Jon is great to work with.
  • Thanks to everyone for the nice comments, Warren and I really appreciate it. We work very hard to ensure that everyone gets a fair shake and the best coins possible, no fuss, no muss, no hassles and no games. We couldn't be happier than when you're satisfied and can't thank you enough for your trust and support.

  • I can tell you first hand how fast coins fly out of their store sometimes...Jon could tell me about a new coin that has just come in and an hour later it can be gone! The folks over there really keep their collective nose to the ground, keeping their wantlist people VERY well informed. There is a core group out there(and it's no doubt growing!) that like their coins original. Now everyone please hush up, or we'll have to share the spoils with more people!!

I think the fact that this thread did not end up attracting negative posts from any forum members, says a great deal about how good RCNH is.

Sorry to end the streak, Mark. Those guys at RCNH are lousy graders. Last year I purchased 5 raw choice AU $20 Libs from RCNH and sent them to be graded. They were wrong on four out of five. All but one came back in an MS holder. I have recently bought some relatively inexpensive type coins from them, and at least two were significantly undergraded, as well. What's a guy have to do to get some accurately graded raw coins? image
  • I`m sorry to hear of your disappointment , RYK. imageimage

  • Wow, it's so nice to see this thread coming back up to the top periodically. Thank you. Thought I'd give it another boost by responding to some individual comments.

DUIGUY: I couldn't be happier that your first experience was a positive one. You ain't seen nothing yetimage

coinguy1: You are a gentleman among gentlemen even though you said we're a pain image. You are one of the few long standing dealers for which Warren has nothing praise. I've even said a nice thing about you once or twice.

RYK: I'd appreciate it if you'd stop picking off our AU-58's like that, we're trying really hard to learn how to grade properly. I keep telling Warren that he grades too tight but he won't listen to me. Stubborn as a mule that guy is.

tcmitssr: You hit the nail right on the head as far as our pricing. We will look at as many coins as necessary until we find one that lives up to our standards. It doesn't matter how cheap the others are, we are not interested if not strict for the grade and original as possible. If that one nice coin costs more than the last 10 that's OK, it's still the one we want to handle. Quality doesn't cost, it pays.

OIB: Your ID is an award winner and I can't tell you how much of a pleasure it is to work with someone that "gets it". Please remember that you have some pieces which I'd like first shot at buying for myself. I bet people hear that from their dealers all the time. image

Got to run, I'm currently on vacation Bangkok spending time with a dear friend and being treated like a king. I might recommend that my personal clients start working with Warren instead because I may not be coming home. image
