Donate to American Red Cross Now - Help Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Link to American Red Cross

There have been a few threads on this forum about Hurricane Katrina and the desire of many to help out. One idea is to create a special PCGS slab to raise funds. This is certainly one option but we need to keep in mind the WTC ( World Trade Center ) slabs that were created after the 9 - 11 disaster. Some view those slabs as having been in very poor taste.

Americans take care of their own and if you truely want to help then do so with a cash donation. We are not children and we don't need a trinket bribe like we used to receive after visiting the Dentist Office - do we?

I just donated a cash amount and may do so again next week. I would like to think everyone here is willing and able to do the same.

Give a Thumbs-Up after you visit the Red Cross Site and make a donation. imageimageimageimageimage

    << <i>Dear Robert,

Thank you for your generous gift to the American Red Cross 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund. This fund makes it possible for the Red Cross to help nationwide Hurricane disaster victims of 2005 with critical needs such as shelter, food, clothing, counseling and other assistance. It's because of the 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund that our response can be immediate regardless of its location or the community’s ability to financially support our efforts.

Your generous support means the most to the families who rely on Red Cross to help them through some of the most difficult times of their lives.

[Please continue to visit us at http://www.redcross.org/ to see how we’re using your 2005 Hurricane Relief Fund donation to make a difference, and for the most current disaster updates and stories about the people being helped.

Together, we can save a life.

I work for a Big 4 accounting firm, and most of us got our bonuses today. We have 100 employess in our New Orleans office, so a chunk of mine will go to our disaster relief fund, and another chunk will go to the American Red Cross. And I am sure many of my collegues will do the same.

I have been to New Orleans several times at conventions, and I love visiting the city (and especially eating the food!!). 8 days from now I was supposed to be at another convention in NO. It just sickens me to see what is happening there. image

You may check and see if your company will match your donation -- many will, thereby doubling our effectiveness to help. Some companies require that the checks go through them, others just need a receipt.

But whatever you do, do something. The fact that we can watch this minute-by-minute on cable news does not make it any less of a calamity of historical proportions, comparable to anything this nation has ever seen. The last time this many Americans were refugees, Lincoln was in the White House.

    Opinions are like buttholes...

BTW ya'll should consider donating at Lowe's or other stores that are matching customer donations. If you give $100 to the Red Cross at Lowe's, they will match the $100--effectively doubling your gift. Your own company may have the same plan in place. Check and see!
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

Amazon.com and iTunes allow you to make a direct $ donation to the Red Cross, from their websites. I chose to give through iTunes. Apple sends 100% of all money donated to the Red Cross. Cash is what clean up-rescue teams need. iTunes has different radio buttons to click whatever amount you wish to give. They will debit your account, just as if you were buying a new song. This is a simple fast secure way to step up to the plate and offer real help to our fellow Americans.
