I bought the 1993-P Jefferson that Superior could not deliver

On or about 7/20/05 I purchased from Superior the coin at a BIN that was so low that I felt that it must be a mistake. However Superior did come thru and delivered the coin for the total price of $52.50image

Just thought I would tell " The rest of the story"

  • ER - it's a dollar, but still with the "70" image I feel it's worth the priceimage

  • I should have posted this in the other thread, but it was too long.

Something about superior's reply got me thinking

"First we have been implementing new sophisticated software that ties into our
inventory data to offer our products on our website and other auction sites like eBay, Overstock and Amazon."

So, they are listing a single item on their website, three auction venues, and for sale in store. And they
are counting on the software to delete the listing from all other sales locations if it sells at one. That
seems to be asking for more problems. Very complicated. Somebody BIN on ebay and it disappears from the
    showcase in the store?

Quick, sell it back to Superior for $300.00 (and how can they possibly refer to themselves as "superior" after this fiasco?).

So, those who claim that if the selling price of Beepy's coin would have been at or over retail Superior would have magically produced the coin are off base. If that were the case, they sure as hell wouldn't have delivered this one at about 1/3 of the selling price in the auction he won. Obviously, it really was an honest mistake.

Obviously, it really was an honest mistake.

For some reason, there are some people who have a difficult time accepting that, even in light of the Wondercoin "testimony" and this "Exhibit B".

Is a stupid mistake and a honest mistake the same thing, or can a mistake be both?---------------BigE

I am waiting for the consignor of this 53.00 coin to Superior to chime in and demand the difference between what beepy bid and Garneteye paid-----------------------------------------BigE

  • Can this get any more interesting?

  • Surely the consignor did not accept $53 as the selling price of this coin. I'd scream foul from the rooftops if I were he/she.image

Probably not a consignment. Superior does sell a lot of their own coins.

  • I can confirm that the cert # of the coin pictured in this thread matches the cert # of the coin I bid on and won. I won my auction on July 27.
  • I can confirm that the coin delivered was the same cert. # (72867675)

Yep - and there goes the legal argument that this was a scam by Superior that they sold the coin for more to someone else to hose Beepy! Maybe they make it up in the volumn when they run these types of scams.

Hmmm maybe Beepy owes Superior an apology AND $100 bucks - but for the sale to someone else, Beepy would have over paid for this rare item by a bit over $100 - So - is the FMV $52.50 or the reserve of $500 that beepy wanted Superior to spend buy that other great rarity. Per Greysheet an original issue 93 Jeff Comm Dollar is bid/ask at $19/$21 - They all look the same, the only discernable difference is that PGCS removes them from the original issue holder and then makes a 6 second decision as to whether the get a MS69 or the coveted MS70 award. As you can't tell the difference (well maybe after that 6 second quick look you'll know the difference, it's just that you won't be able to replicate it if you cover the grades and mix them up) - now I maybe a bit on the cynical side - but if youcover the grade - How will Beepy know which one is the MS70 and which ones are only MS69 and considering the quantity made (266,000) does it matter?

Not an item to threaten people with lawsuits, and certainly not something to actually file a lawsuit over -
