If wishes were horses...

If there is one regret or several regrets you have in collecting coins, what would they be? Maybe it was three-legged buffalo you passed up on for $40.00 at a flea market or a roll of 1914-D's for $800 back in 1970. Maybe it was not getting started in the hobby earlier. It could be anything you'd go back and do differently in the hobby.

Not really a regret, but I wish I had more time to really work on a collection of something offbeat and inexpensive. Forget all about splitting-hairs grading, slabs, crackouts, fakes, AT, tooling, etc. I think it would be a lot of fun hunting them down.

I don't kick myself that I didn't buy stuff earlier, it's a hobby for me.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I found this place very early on, I still remember the old format in 2000.

My regret was not to embrace PCGS/NGC/ANACS stronger and earlier.

I wish I could spend more time looking for coins and going to shows. The same time problem exists for my research at the Mint archives. Most people have what, 10 or 15 days a year that has to be split up between family and/or fun things. Being able to spend 4 or 5 days there a year is tough. Now, where did I put my Powerball ticket.image

On the other hand, no regrets that Marty lives 1,000 miles away and Russ is about 3,000 miles west. That helps keep the carnage in the Phila. area coin shops to a minimum.image

    I agree with pharmer!!
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Biggest regrets are not buying TONS of Large Cents and Half Cents in the 1970's when they were really inexpensive and not too many folks really wanted them.

At the 2000 ANA show, I could have bought all the 1999 silver proof sets I wanted for $40 a pop. I bought 1.image

I also passed on buying Qualcomm @ $8/ share in 1998 or 1999 because there was pending litigation. Stock still went to $800 after three or four splits.

Stayed single so my wife wouldn't bug me about spending money on coins! I've had a lot of my coins longer than my wife.
