Five of the Accented Hairs were pulled from the group of nine "unopened" sets that were all AH's, six of which were cameos that I posted about a while back. Cost me around $12 a set. The sixth was one I had in the box, and I'll be damned if I can remember where it came from. Can you say obscene profit? image The PR68CAM is a very pleasant surprise as I didn't expect any better than PR67CAM.

The regular that graded PR69 is a coin that I wouldn't normally submit because I only submit cameos for these. But, that one just looked so damned nice that I figured it for a lock 69 and wanted to see if I was right.

The Lincoln is a WILD ASS toner:

BTW, this is the first time ever I've had an all cameo Accented Hair submission. Usually PCGS gongs me on one or two just to keep me guessing.

Man, I LOVE this hobby! image

Don't you have a website Russ?

And how do you tell if its accented hair? Shouldn't there be like 5 lines above the ear or something?

This is an excellent example of how the "average" collector can still make a major score . Forget the classic vs. modern debate and the opened vs. unopened discussion, if you have patience, do a little homework, and have a little luck now & then (Russ had no real idea these were acct. hair, or ok maybe he did) some nice coins are still out there waiting for you. I would recommend proof sets from '56 to '63 and '65 to '70 as a starting point.

    Very nice submission.image

I think I am going to submit Russ' resume to HRH for the photog position so I can get him out of Washington and down to California....he hogs all the good stuff locally as well as what you guys seem him grab on ebay!

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I believe that merits a suckaroonie for Russ ... Now, I see why he has been so kind to homerun and PCGS in general, lately ... now, on to the hunt for the coveted brown nose JFK, he's looking for a darker milk spot in juuuussst the right spot, advise if you have one.... image

Cha-Ching is right. Kudos and Congrats Russ on the halves. When you receive them back from PCGS post a picture of them lined up in a row and show them off.

As far as the cent goes............................, funny I simply can not see any red or any brown at all. Perhaps for copper, the hobby should (led by the TPG's) demand a fourth designation, perhaps Rainbow or Neon.

wtg, Russ... nice pickups. Now tell us, was it really a blind shot in the dark on those BIN's or did you know something? BTW, there is a new sign at the WA/OR border... it says Russ is not allowed to enter!

In this case, pure, friggin' luck! These "unopened" sets have been going for such stupid money that it'd been a while since I bought any. When the two groups, (one of five, and the other of four), showed up on eBay with BINs only a couple bucks per set higher than Greysheet I grabbed them.

Russ, Excellent job. I have a question about the accented hair. I bought 10 unopened set, which I opened looking for cameo Jeff's. My questions is what makes the difference between the accented hair and regular proof. Do you have pic's to share that show the difference? Thanks Rodius
