ORIGINAL SIGLINE RULES FOR ALL TO READ!

This was posted on the Buy Sell & Trade forum so I want to let you all know about it too.
The pictures in your signature lines need to be kept at the following dimensions.
200 x 400 and no larger than 20k.
If you image is too large you will be asked to remove or reduce the image size.
We will ask once and if you do not comply, we will deactivate your account. No second chances.
Take time to see if your pics match up with the sizes listed above.
Thank you,
Carol

according to the post your picture is too large... and so is mine, we need to flip them to comply!!!
Funny you should should be the one to post that. Your image is 300x225 and 57.12kB
Here's one that complies. Feel free to use it. BTW, this pic is only 11K. 1/5 the file size of your's and very little difference in image quality. File compression can go a long way...

as for the MadMan, it's been nice knowin' him---he's 342 over the limit and i sense the high-priestess of the forum hovering above the keypad!!!!

Personally, I use Photoshop. Most imaging programs have similar functionality, though the steps may be slightly different. Here's how to do it in Photoshop:
1. Open your image
2. Click on the Crop tool
3. In the toolbar at the top, enter 200 and 300 (or whatever dimensions you want) in the Height and Width boxes.
4. Drag your mouse in the image, and a 200x300 pixel outline will form. Once you let go of the mouse, you can move the crop rectangle around within the image.
5. Double click inside the cropped area. Now you have a 200x300 pixel image.
6. Go File, click it, then click on Save (or Save for Web). You'll find a box with choices for compression. For most images, Medium compression is adequate. You can adjust the degree of compression and preview the image before saving. It will tell you the resulting file size below the image.
And no, I'm NOT volunteering to resize everyone's images!
Thanks, Ken
<< <i>Barry, I use Photoshop also. My method of doing it is quite simialr to that you posted except not in that order. I'll try your way and see if anything changes in my final results.
Thanks, Ken >>
Wow! I must be doing something wrong. I've froze my computer up now five times and have had to totally power down and restart!
May as well get started now.

Below is my new sigline picture...resized to mini so I am compliant.

If the image isn't hosted here, what difference does it possibly make? I can post from an offsite server a picture (or multiple pictures) of coins where the photos are sized 2000x1500 dpi and is 100K plus, and can post unlimited (within reason) threads.
I guess (as I normally am the *boss* and have to justify MY rules) that I like to know the logic behind what otherwise seems like PWWTMTOTH (the Ego theory of "people with way too much time on their hands")
Not that any of this applies to me, of course. I'm not smart or cool enough to have a awesome sigline... Yet.
But you just wait...

EDIT: Well, now it's added, but I've got an extremely pixely sigline. Oh well...maybe I'll re-orient the images this weekend.

Mine was 225x157 at 19k. Just went ahead and removed it. It all seems a tad much to me. Is it Sq. area in total or 200x400 max on either axis? Could you use 400x200?

I'm willing to look at something reasonable if your image doesn't quite comply or if is 17 pixels over. I've had a number of complaints (even from our Sr. Management, which I've blown off) about the number and size of files. The more people use sig lines the long it takes to load the pages, etc. Also, some have been so are extreme some take up the whole monitor.
This really isn't new but it will be enforced going forward.
I'll probably start requesting reductions some time tomorrow.

Heck, if it's bandwidth you want to save, get rid of the open forum.
Ban sig pics. Limit posts to 1500 characters.
I'm just sure my sarcasm will be lost on a surprisingly large number of people. Let's ban them too.

Figured I just might as well comply. It's easier on the Mod.

I thought of the Kurt Vonnegut short story "Harrison Bergeron", about when all Americans were finally equal. Congress had legislated that everyone wear suits with lead weights proportional to their strength so that all Americans could (and had to) sit in their Barcaloungers at home in front of their TVs.
For the bandwidth-challenged, with 28.8 and 33.6K modems and slow computers, there is still the text-based usenet newsgroup, rec.collecting.coins, with quite a few good educational posts, and numismatic discussion between the trolls and flames.
it doesnt matter, that I dont know how to fix what I couldnt
do then, now.

Bingo!!!! Plus it just makes reading so much nicer. I'm Cable but not for long, and I surf with a PDA. The picture make for most of the scrolling action. Without It one can surf/read faster on a PDA than a PC IMO

What a load of BS.
Why not go after this new herd of trolls with multiple ID's or maybe spend some that extra money we're paying for grading and buy some new servers?

I personally think that it is a pretty petty issue...soon dial up will be a thing of the past, but until that time, I shall comply.
