Could this be a 84 S/S proof Lincoln?

This 84S Lincoln sure looks like it is a S/S proof. Opinions?

    It could be an RPM, but it needs to be studied under a microscope to be sure. ANACS does not assign new die numbers, they attribute what is already known. Sending it to them before sending it to be listed with me, Billy, CONECA, or NCADD would be a waste. If they don't have an existing die number to give it, they won't give it one at all.

    Have any been certified as of yet? ANACS 8/03 pop report says no.

    There has been

    1 82-S/S,
    6 75-S/S,
    21 74-S/S RPM-3 (18RD/2CM/1HC),
    3 71-S/S,
    1 71-S/S RPM-4, and
    5 70-S/S (2RD/2CM/1RB RPM-7) certified by ANACS.

    So a TOTAL of only 37 since they started the S mintmark 36 years ago - an average of just over 1 OMM/yr!

    The CONECA site doesn't list any OMM for that year either.

    Also, NGC doesn't list a pop for any of the 7 coins that ANACS does.

    You might have a discovery coin - I'd sent it to ANACS - or just a stike doubled nothing (get someone that knows to look at it up close before sending it to ANACS). image

    They will annotate it as an RPM, though. I submitted a 1905 Indian Head Cent with a minor RPD that I couldn't find listed anywhere. They attributed it as an RPD, and on the invoice sheet stated "Not listed in Snow".

    Thanks for all the opinions guys. Chuck, it's on its way to you, I will PM you with the time frame. Coin looks good in hand- I will post to this board with what Chuck comes up with.

    Kind of looks to me like MDD with the MDD occuring on BOTH strikes.

    Nice observation Conder. I see at least 2 clear split serifs, I will let Chuck's enhanced micro pics look for a third.
