Quarters Clad or Silver? How can I tell

Hi everyone. I'm new to the board and hope this isnt too stupid a question...I cant find the answer on my own and I've been looking and looking. I have been collecting for only about 6 years and thought I knew "alot" but I'm learning I dont know as much as I thought I did the more and more I research things. Namely...the reason I'm writing today. I NEED HELP!

I have all 5 1999-S statehood quarters (proof) that have been graded and encapsulated. My potentially stupid question is...how do I know if they're CLAD or SILVER? According to the PCGS Price Guide, there is a big difference in value between the Clad and Silver coins and whether they're PR69 or PR70.

Using 1999-s Delaware as an example:
1999-s Clad PR69: $45
Clad PR7O: $1500
1999-s Silver PR69: $35
Silver PR70: $3250

I do not intend to sell the coins, but I would like to know once-and-for-all if they're silver or clad so I can guesstimate my collection value better so I know AND for insurance purposes. I hope I explained this good enough, and hope it's not too dumb.

It should indicate on the slab if it is silver. Also silver is a whiter metal than clad (nickel).

The slab will say if silver, or should anyway. In my change I always look for ones without the orange stripe on the side to see if maybe I have gotten an older silver one in change. rarely do anymore. Always the clad ones.

to the best of my knowledge, it doesnt say on the slab. I'm at work now, but I'll look again when I get home. I'll also compare then to known silver coins I have to see if I can see the difference.

My pcgs silver proof state quarter says - silver on the pcgs insert.
Its the only one I have. Also the pcgs coin number should be 96042-clad 96043-silver.

Every slab I've seen whether PCGS ,PCI,NGC or whatever, will have a notation on the slab! Hold on...let me grab one...I basically stole these when they first came out from a merchant for $99. They are 99Silver Proof 70 and under the State's Name it says "Silver" I'm pretty sure it's like that on just about any grading service's slab! Not for sure though! Boom

I know PCGS indicates this on the label, I would assume others do as well. I would imagine yours do not state "silver," or you would not be asking this question.

Side by side, the silver versions are "whiter" than clads.

Which company slabbed these coins? That makes a huge difference, as well. If it's not PCGS or NCG, maybe ANACS, then that 69 or 70 designation isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
