Anyone Sold to Covina?

I'm considering selling some commemorative $5 gold, mint sets, and proof singles to Covina. Has anyone dealt with them? I have several questions if you have...

How quickly do they pay?
Any idea what makes a coin problem enough that they return it (spotted or hazed proofs for example)?
Did they stick to their listed prices or try to go lower?

Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

I have sold to them a couple of times. They were very slow in paying but they did stick to their prices.

This has been on the boards before.

    They really like Morgans.

Payment has been described as a little slow. (That's conservative)

You really need to get a look at the woman behind the table at a show though. You won't mind waiting.
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

I sent them a group of Morgans from my uncle's collection. They graded from G to AU and put down the VG-VF price for all of them. They said some were only G so they gave me less than the price I put down but they didn't give me more for the EF and AU coins.

I sent a bunch of rolls of wheats to them one time. They had the stuff on their buy list. I culled the coins out before sending them to them. They cherry picked them to make the nicest single roll of each and sent the other rolls back to me. Needless to say, I'm not a big fan, and they'll never get another shippment from me.

At a big show, you get paid on the spot or you walk.

If you send them coins, they take all the time in the world.

So if I mail coins should I expect a check in a week, 3 weeks, 5 weeks?

Brian, I did one deal with them and the guy I talked to was very concerned that I get the coins to him ASAP. When I called about my $$ some days later, they were not very friendly and I was passed around and stalled a great deal. I did get paid after a long time

I have sold to them several times. They typically pay in 6-8 weeks but I had one time that took more like 12 weeks. On that deal, they also returned about half of the stuff. I had sent a LOT of BU rolls, lots of rolls but just a few dates (so a very deep inventory in each of them). I sorta got the feeling they kept 'em for awhile and paid me for what they were able to sell in the interim and returned the rest. I did not mind them returning coins they didn't want or couldn't use or whatever but I was not happy about them keeping them that long and then returning them. Even if the payment took three months I felt the ones they didn't want should have been returned immediately so that I could have sold them elsewhere. Next time, I plan to ship less. They'll be able to sell it faster and thus pay faster and avoid returns.
