Youngcoin15 --- Apparently I was out of line in some eyes... apology given even if not accepted...

Edit to OP...

In my experience, while I expect no one to "live" on their PC... I happen to work on and thru my PC... so I do frequent this site more often than others. My experience here has shown that while we may share the same interest in coins, we do not always share the same values and/or ideas.

I have had MANY satisfying transactions on the BST... most have gone smooth as silk. However, a few years ago I was burned along with others here, by someone who had built up so-called street cred here... he had had many successful deals with me and others before he "turned"... communication seemed to be OK on our last deal... with many defending him... right up until the last minute. Suddenly he dropped from the radar... then PM'd one of the buyers with a "too bad sucker... I have problems and am keeping your money" ... so excuse the heck out of me if I seemed to act impulsively.

I do not know Youngcoin15 and had no prior dealing with him... YES... his previous track record seemed to imply "no problem" ... the deal was a good one... almost too good and i was wary... but based on the track record, I went with it...

While Youngcoin15 might not "live" here... all that I had wanted was the tracking info... he PM'd that he would ship on Thursday or Friday and PM the tracking... he did not... well, that is not how I do business... I have taken losses on sales, yet I still communicate in a timely manner... to me, that is how business is done...

Based on my unfortunate experience related above, I became concerned when I did not hear from Youngcoin15 WHEN he said he would PM me... young dude... with all due respect... when conducting business... especially with a new "customer"... if it is being done online... you need to BE ONLINE while the business is being done... same as running a store or any business... no matter how good the deal... be there and communicate. I only received updates from you when I asked for them... like i said in my 2nd post to this thread... had I received the PM w/ the tracking info, I would have kicked back and relaxed... I did not receive it, so I did not relax...

So... even though you already state you will not accept my apology, I offer it...(although I still really am not sure what I did wrong... I never accused you of being anything other than being somewhat irresponsible for not following through on your word to communicate information to me) apparently you are a "good guy" ... once I do receive the package I will consider this episode over and done... as for future business... no problem... if the way you conducted this deal is an indication of how you conduct business then we are both better off not doing any further business.

And for the rest of the folks on this forum... many of you have done business with me in the past... I am sure my track record shows that I DO COMMUNICATE and other than one pesky potential deal gone bad with one forum member (which fell apart due to complete miscommunication which led to misunderstanding) ... I have always kept my word... in this business, that is key!!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK... I watched this forum member do a presale a while back this year... heard no complaints... then "he" offered another one back in August... see the thread below... many names I recognize were mentioned as previously happy customers... no... I did not check to verify directly with them...

Link to BST thread

"He" did communicate last week thru PM that the items would ship by Friday and "he" would send me the tracking info. While I do understand that he might be away and unable to get online, I would find it somewhat irresponsible of "him" to not have informed me of that possibilty (I use quotes because I am not certain if this person is a he or she but uses a male name)... and yes, there might have been an emergency...

And yes... I used PayPal... and a CC...

So now... anyone know how to contact this forum member other than thru PM or email?

Thank you image

  • I was in on his first presale. No problems at all. I received my order when he said.

Being it is only Monday morning and all, you might be a little early in calling him "irresponsible". JMHO. image

I had no problems either, I dont think he checks the board that often. Maybe he was gone for the weekend.

Everyone is different about what it means to "keep one's word" ... last PM from him assured me that I would hear from him on Friday the latest with tracking info. Not keeping one's word does seem to me to be somewhat irresponsible... especially with someone I have had no previous dealings with.

If it is an emergency... and I certainly hope that is not the case... then I would "take back" such a comment...

If he were away for the weekend, I would think he would have known in advance and could have informed me...

Again... this would be our first business together... I know that I would be more communicative... but hey ... that's just me... image

It was based on his prior track record with others here that I was willing to go ahead with this deal... I still have faith that all is and will be well.... just think a little communication would help...

Larry, did you get a phone number at the time you transacted your business? Doing so doesn't guarantee anything, but it is generally a good idea.

    Agreed Sea Eagle!

The only information I have is his name, and his paypal ID. If that will help shoot me a PM, sounds like you already have that.
  • With holding any comment until the other side of the story is presented would be the best way to go from this point on. JMHO
  • I just received a PM from another of the buyers ... seems he already received his ASEs... and I would imagine mine will arrive shortly... unfortunately, I am now in Philly and will not get to my PO Box until next Monday...

Meanwhile... I will offer a "preliminary" apology to Youngcoin15... with a caveat... Communication is essential when conducting business... this was our "first time out" and you could have offered more info to keep me and others abreast of the situation. I was contacted by another buyer who was concerned and alerted you to that fact. You then Pm'd that you would mail by Friday and then send me the tracking info... had you done so, this thread would never have been created.

Sorry if anyone is offended by my "old-fashioned" sense of values... but leaving someone in the "lurch" with little or no communication is not the way I do things... nor do I appreciate it being done to me.

Once I have confirmed receipt of the package and all is in order, I will issue a full apology and change the title of this thread at that time...

Again... perhaps a lesson for all ... communicate... it helps alot and costs very little image

My transaction with Youngcoin15 was smooth as butter! image

He doesn't live on here like some of us as he only logs in every 5-7 days.
To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
  • A special thanks to the board member who emailed me this, as I was not aware of this post. Now my side image
WOW!!! Its safe to say me and SeaEagle are done doing business! This truly is something else, First off in response to sea's post of keeping in contact, I have responded NO LATER than two days on any PM he has sent me. (Just ask me, i'll send you the messages image ) Those of you stating I am not on here everyday are correct, I have a job and family. On the weekends sometimes I do not get a chance to get on. Secondly, This was an opportunity I WAS OFERING TO YOU THAT NO ONE ON HERE HAS OFFERED BEFORE AND AT THE BEST PRICE AROUND. I AM DOING YOU A FAVOR, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. If I would have known that i would have been called out like this I would have pressed refund on your money no questions asked image. Unfortunatly though you already have your tracking number image . Like I stated before i make NO PROFIT ON THESE. Your so eager to jump through hoops calling me out, and stating i have poor communication, casue your so quick to get these and charge average joe an extra $5 markup when you resell these.
Problems do happen, things do come up, thats life. I've stated I've had over 30 plus positive transactions both buying and selling, now to see a board member call me out becasue he did not get a same day response is to me ridiculous. You call your self old fashion, I call you dissrespectful. If you had concerns confront me and at most two days you would have had a response.
Yes I did say it would be by friday, my apologies as it was Saturday! and I sent you the tracking today becasue I usually am not on, on the weekend. So your correct with that statement.
The interesiting thing about this is its life common phrase, "you can't please everyone" so true.

I APPRECIATE the kind words from the couple of you that stuck up for me, I truly do.
I'll keep selling eagles, but i'll be selective on who I sell to. Its just the way it has to be. To those of you who wish to pruchase, thanks, and when they come, you will not be dissapointed. There are truly some great people on this board. I respected the board and always will, but this is one time I had to say something. SeaEagle, try going for a walk once a day instead of sitting at a computer 24/7 instead of posting my name 6300 times. It might calm you down a bit image

Youngcoin15- You are right in that you can not please everone in life, some are easier to deal with than others. You do not gennerally know in advance who they are. Most threads like this are always over mis communication on one side or the other.

I would have thought all the positive transactions you had would have bought you a day or 2

A little OT here but when i call a dealer and order a coin, most of the time it arrives in 7 to 10 days, sometimes sooner. Most of the time you do not get tracking info.

You sell a coin on Ebay on Monday evening the buyer expects it to be delivered by noon on tuesday with the tracking info, a picture of the package being mailed at the post office etc. and then they whine about postage.

Buy a coin at auction and at times wait 2 weeks for coin to arrive after paying juice, tax and expensive shipping fees. ( buy a 40 dollar coin at heritage and add up the fees, juice, tax and shipping) I love Heritage, it is just the way it is. Those catalogs they mail me gennerally cost them big bucks to mail.

  • PM finally received from Youngcoin15... tracking info received... I have added an edit to the first post...

I still say communication is key... while I do not expect people to live here... if you initiate a business transaction here IMHO you should make an extra effort to be here, at least while the business is still not completed...

Sounds like some unfortunate circumstances led to two good forum guys both getting a little tarnished.
Larry has many loyal supporters here on the forum, myself included. Hopefully this will blow over soon and things can be patched up for all parties.

Communications, plain and simple. In this day of electrons instantly zooming across the country, there is no excuse for poor communications. If you're going to be away, let your customers know. If you promise to send an update, then send it. Doing anything else just sows doubt. Especially in a case such as this where the $$ are paid way in advance of the delivery of the product, you've got to provide timely updates. There is so much fraud out there that anything less than good communications will generate suspicions and bad feedback.

Here's a suggestion: Next time you offer one of these sweet deals, when the orders come in, place each customer's email address in an email group. Then, as updates are warranted, all you have to do is send one email to the group and all of your customers will have the latest info.

    JMHO. Others may feel differently.

For me my transaction with Youngcoin15 was great. Any I was VERY sceptical given the price these were offered at. But took a chance after seeing some of the folks who had purchased from him before.

The only issue with the transaction was mine. I'd forgot that these were presale and he'd stated that they'd ship at a certain time. So I got itchy after a while and realized I didn't have them yet. He reminded me the same day.

Then I needed some special shipping instructions and he promptly responded to that request.

As I look at my PM history, I see he always responded to my PM's on the same day or next day. Lucky timing, I guess?

    SO,

SeaEagle- I don't know if you were "out of line", a person has to protect thier business. It seems that the timing was off on your transaction. And I think it is great that you came on here to offer a public apology...

    WHICH

I hope YoungCoin will accept. Even if you two never do business, an acceptance of an apology is an agreement to disagree. Life's too short to hold a grudge. Life is too short.

    Peace

A little up-front communication and this would never have happened.

I don't know Youngcoin15 but he sounds genuine. And busy offline. I don't get refusing an apology though.

Larry's a good guy I'd do business with any time.

I have not done any business with Youngcoin15, but have with SeaEagleCoins. I can say that Larry is a stand-up guy and our transactions have been without worries.

Sounds like Youngcoin15 is also a good guy. Too bad the deal was problematic.

" Apparently I was out of line in some eyes... apology given even if not accepted..."

perhaps another way of phrasing this would have been

I was out of line, and I apologize.

It's been my experience that the things that bother us most in others are the things we have worked so hard to correct in ourselves. I see no ones image tarnished just a concern experessed looking for some feedback one way or another.. positive feedback came and Larrys mind was eased youngcoin got a pat on the back for being a good guy and everybody is whole.

Either both parties need to apologize or they both need to rescind their posts and apologies. This is and was none of our business until both of you had made contact with one-another. Just take it as a learning experience and move on. There's no need to continue or try and 'save-face' because it's not going to happen.

The only real problem from this situation will be if the individuals involved have mailboxes devoid of lessons learned.

    Larry,
While I can 100% understand your position on this, I think the key, as I read it, is that you keep referring to this as "business". Which it is for you, but likely isn't for him. He has stated more than once that there is "no profit" in this for him (likely, he gets a better deal on the ASEs he wants by buying in larger volume than he normally would and then moves the rest around cost...least, that's my guess from reading his BST weeks ago and then the updates here).

Also, while I do understand expecting communication when it is said, I also understand giving things a day or two extra. Especially around a weekend. Things can come up that delay getting to the USPS. Work, traffic, family, etc.

Again, from a business standpoint, you are right that quick, timely, communication should be there. From a collector, or casual, side of things, there may be a 2-3 day leeway in there. That may be something that folks should take into consideration when they make "deals".....are you expecting business to business type transactions or collector type transactions?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
