The very next one right after it!

Just got it in the mail, paid roughly raw price, better date San Diego. Coin and slab in great shape!

    cheezhed:

I happen to like the early all white NGC slab a lot.

However, the next best thing to a black NGC slab is the PCGS regency slab or the PCGS doily label slab! image

The all white NGC slab does not look different enough to excite most collectors.

That is true if we are going to compare different TPGs.

I was strictly referring to NGC slabs.

    Thanks Oreville!

The gold embossed NGC design on your capsule appears to be the external relief of the 3rd generation holder. The 2nd generation holder design had the embossed gold label inside the capsule. Also, the 1st generation NGC holder was a black insert with a white attribution/grade label.

I believe it's the internal embossing, notice the lack of shadow coming from the printing that would be present on the external label.

    Thought I would chime in . .

Primarily a Doily collector, but that early NGC is a fine piece of plastic!

    Great catch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice! San Diego is one my favorites! image

  • I can't tell for sure since the image is shot straight on which may be the reason for the lack of shadow but it does appear to be a 2.1 which is in line with the NGC 1 black slabs as far as overall rarity is concerned even if they don't command the same premiums. I just recently picked one up on Ebay but I paid a strong but fair premium image

The camera is straight on but the lighting isn't and the lights create the shadows, not the camera.
