I have found power in the mysteries of thought.

It is always a question of knowing and seeing, and not that of believing.

Our virtues, and our failings are inseparable, like force, and matter. When they separate, man is no more.

    Well MY curiosity is peaked......
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Well, just tell us what has happened with you recently that would be considered recognition for such applause.

It may be that I've cleared up an issue at NGC regarding the Utah Dollars, HK-358/359. DUIGUY has had a silver one and a copper one. The wording on the silver matches the copper one, which it shouldn't. The copper one says that it's made from virgin copper. I've always been suspicious of it and then found a real silver one for him to purchase which he did. I have been serving the roll as a middleman between DUIGUY and NGC to resolve this issue. The original silver one that he had actually appears to be plated, but NGC had called it authentic and DUIGUY paid accordingly. NGC has now seen the light and is making the necessary corrections. It's one of those things where if you only see one or two in a lifetime, knowing what to look for sometimes night not be so obvious.

Again, not sure if this is what DUIGUY is referring to, but it's my hunch. I'm not sure it's worth attention. image

Hey tmot99, since you're in such a position to have the ear of the powers that be ATS, maybe you could get them to help the owner of this one:Oh! the horror!image

I saw that one. I'm not that familiar with those, but my guess was that that medal is a restrike? I know that there are a few different strikings of that.

There's a typo on the label. That Washington piece is a "Sansom" medal, as correctedly described by the seller. The slab is labeled SAMSON. Mechanical error; no biggie.

It's the real deal, but how would you feel knowing that the makers name is misspelled on your pedigreed specimen? image SAMSON???

Didn't catch that one. I agree with jonathan that a mechanical error is no biggie. I get them from time to time.

Yepper this is the one. What Tom left out is an education given to NGC and collectors through this experience. image

Good job. ...and atta boy, NGC.

I suppose we should be especially impressed that you weren't certain what this was all in reference to? image

I don't think it was worthy of taking a bow over. But thanks, DUIGUY. Again, it's one of those medals that is rarely seen so for NGC to not really know the exact details isn't that surprising. They have seen a number of plated copper ones so it was their impression that they were all that way.
  • It may not be worthy of taking a bow, for you, but it IS worthy (as well as deserved) by stepping in and 'teaching the teacher', so to speak. Two thumbs up for doing such an honorable, helpful thing!!! image
