The slabbed toilet seat

I bought this a few years ago. It belonged to a congressman from PA. he was a member of congress from 1955-1975 and got this on his birthday. Lots of polished coins but lots of silver too.

The letter says
"To Whom it May Concern,

I guarantee the clear glass coin filled toilet seat is authentic. It was presented to my husband Frank Clark by hi staff on hids birthday.
I am unsure of the year, possibly in the early 70's. Sincerley, Pat Clark"

The a hand written note on the bottom "My husband was a member of Congress from 1955-1975. He was an associate of Jack Kennedy
and Lyndon Johnson. He represented the 25th district of Pennsylvania"

I've know of three of these now.

One of our board member's (Colquhoun) father has one.

And my uncle used to own up until his death in the 70's.

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

  • I like the whole "congress connection"
  • I bought one several years ago and it adorns my upstairs guest bath. There is one 64 Unc Kennedy and the rest go way back. All are silver and Unc to Au. The face value alone is a bit over $200. It has some beautiful Walkers and SLQs in it, not to mention many Morgans and Peace Dollars.

To think I picked it up on eBay around late 2000, brand new in it's sealed package for only $90 plus shipping and I was the only bidder. To be fair, it had a poor description, and a terrible picture that looked like it was shot from over 10 feet away. I just took a flyer on it.

No provenance came with it, though.

"Lenin is certainly right. There is no subtler or more severe means of overturning the existing basis of society(destroy capitalism) than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and it does it in a manner which not one man in a million is able to diagnose."

Sorta gives new meaning to the old bromide, "If these coins could talk,..."

There is a place in either Vermont or New Hampshire (I can't remember which) that makes full-size armchairs out of half-dollars.

Thats the first one I've seen with a Peace Dollar in it.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

still available with different themes... poker, casino chips, and coins but you won't be getting silver coins.

check ebay and google for the various manufacturers...

also some vendors on the Vegas strip in front of Harrahs sell these

my favorite is the imbedded razor blades and barbed wire.

The dollar in this one (if real) looks like it missed a couple of overprints:
