Threats from reporting an ebay auction!!!!

I know I posted a bit of this earlier but I wanted all to know what can happen just from trying to do the right thing about a bogus auction. Here are the exact quotes I received from Aunt-Sarahs-Attic

"I'LL BET YOU WISH YOU HAD MINDED YOUR OWN BUSINESS LOWLIFE"

"Be patient SCHMUCK6552, MY 5 NEPHEWS ARE LOOKING IN TO THIS (silly boys all ride Harley Davidsons)"

"NOT A KEY DATE! REPORTED YOU TO EBAY! MY NEPHEWS ARE NOT DONE WITH THIS, THEY HAVE NOT YET BEGUN"

The key date reference is to my auction for a 1903S Morgan.

I wouldn't sweat it...people that have to make threats are pretty useless.
Great BST experiences: abitofthisabitofthat, silvercoinsdude, gerard, coinfame, mikescoins, wondercoin
  • Don't sweat it. If you are doing the right thing there sould be no problem.

In the future do not send a message to the seller, just report to Ebay. I do not think they use your user name.

Also send eBay the threatening email to eBay. They will take care of it for you.

  • It just pi**** me off that ebay allows this to continue. I reported it and have heard nothing, yet when I had a bit of a verbal match with a non paying bidder, they were on me within an hour.

  • LOL how lame is that! Is the Harley reference supposed to be threatening. Yuppy lawyers ride harleys, 80 year old men ride harleys, women ride harleys, hell I ride a Harley. People like this are why "bikers" have to fight stereotypes.

  • Just tell em' you know a lot of coin collectors that ride Harley's too!
  • As I remember, there was a post about this coin about a week ago, I will try to find it.
  • OOooo...they ride Harley's....I'm ascaredimage....what a putz giving a threat like that....sheesh.
  • Well, at least now I can have a laugh. I wasn't worried about the threats (I was a cop for 30 years) and I also have a 2005 ElectraGlide but the bull and bullying tactics just go right through ebay.

Bwuahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!! If I worried about every lame internet threat I've gotten from some nitwit loser over the years I'd be completely nuts by now. Just have a good laugh.

  • So Russ, are you just semi-nuts now????image
  • Doubt there is any "Aunt Sarah" or "5 nephews". Sounds like that was written by a child. He/she should be banned from ebay immediately for making these threats, however juvenile. Of course, I reported two of the obvious shills (we were talking about on these threads) about a week ago, and have heard nothing.

note: the other thread about this seller is titled "You'll be sorry if you get outbid on this one" Say what??

  • Heres the previous thread Text

    Just ignor them, they're losers.
  • How did they find out you reported them. It is all anonymous. There's no way they could know you reported them... unless. You told them, didn't you?

  • She accepts "BANK WIRE TRANSFERS" and "CASH". There's no activity for her seller ID from 9-2005 until THIS February. Her only visible feedback is from the purchase of an optical mouse on January 27th? He/she has a coin with $30,000 BIN? Hijacked Account?

Well, I did run into trouble with A Certain Grading company's lame threats a couple years back. Still sane, tho'...

I'm curious how they found out it was you who reported them. Aren't the usual reporting methods hidden from the sellers? Or do some sellers have "connections"?

    HIS NEPHEWS ???? image

What are Nephews bad a$$'s or something ??

    I'd report HIM to ebay.

I don't think Ebay will take to kindly to people making threats like that.

Report him to eBay, and send copies of the e-mails.
    When in doubt, don't.

Exactly. And do it now. What an idiot - never leave a record like that.
  • Whatever you do, don't stoop to their level and get into a pissing match with these people. Because if you do, then you will be just as bad as they are in Ebays mind. They may even go as far as to drop you and not them since you were the one that started it with reporting them. They may feel this is a grudge thing.

  • I have sent ebay EVERYTHING, including the email headers and they have done NOTHING.

Don't get me wrong, fear is not a factor here but the fact that ebay does nothing is what gauls me or are they waiting to get their fees before they do anything?
  • Reported this ($30,000 BIN auction 1855-S $3 Indian Princess Gold) seller, possible hijacked account.....payment terms, multiple item locations, account activity, and other reasons cited above.

The typical idiot who makes threats over the internet have nothing they can do except threaten people anonymously. Put them in the flesh and almost always they will wither away nervously.

Is riding a Harley Davidson supposed to mean something? At least he could have stated something to the extent of "my Mafia buddies will make it look like suicide" or something equally ridiculous. At the very least if his "nephews" actually rode Harleys you would have no problem hearing them coming several miles away, provided that their bikes do not break down first.

I have a great friend who I often have to remind that "patience isn't [his] strongest virtue". I believe this applies to you too. How many auctions do you think ebay has running at one time? Do you think they should have guys standing by to get to your complaints like burger king? I think the example you stated of "on you in an hour" was an exception rather than the rule. They don't respond immediately but his is a clear violation of their rules and they'll take care of it.

BTW, Dog rides a Harley and looks the part and volunteers to help in these situations. I ride a wimpy BMW but I approach a knife fight like Indiana Jones, if you remember the first movie.

  • they can't do anything to you
  • Notwilight: Its people like you who are one of the main reasons a lot of people now post accross the street. I expect the same service that ebay displayed to me within an hour of a very minor dispute with a non paying bidder. Blame the victim, thats the easiest way.
  • It will be no loss to this site but people like Notwilight have their heads stuck up their asses. Accross the street will grow and this place will shut down because of narrow minded people.

"I have sent ebay EVERYTHING, including the email headers and they have done NOTHING."

    //////////////////////////////////////

It often takes them a couple of days.

I have reported harassment several times. The bad conduct
stopped, but EBAY never told me anything that they had done.

EBAY never reveals the IDs of members who report problem
    listings. It is never a good idea to contact offenders directly;
it is best to just hit the report button.

Send them back a nice helpful e-mail like:

I wouldn't want your nephews to get lost when looking for me; so please tell them they can find me at

Well, it's probably nothing but a blowhard idiot and his idle threat, but...

Folks like that are dumb as dirt.

Perhaps you should just keep an eye open for the Five Nephews...

When I was 18, I dated a girl and her brother was the leader of the Washington Dc area motorcycle gang the Phantoms.. Bad ass M-fers..

Long story short as her brother was crazy I saw him gouge another bikers eyes out that was a Pagon or however you spell it. Those guys do not, I repeat do not look for trouble and only ride for the love of harleys.. So, as brother Jeff told me as long as I respect his sister and I know that she is safe with you George..

Tell them your cousin is Mike Tyson and he hasn't had his scooby snack this month....image

P.S. Biker gangs back then were your prime source for Drugs.. As hard headed and mindless as most were, I can remember the cops always trying to bust them for dope, but never found anything on them. They were just the type of people that didn't quite fit in with the suits and Wally and Beavs parents..

Instead of reporting the threats just to eBay, send a copy of the emails (with all headers) to "abuse@ispname.com" and copy to "postmaster@ispname.com". Obviously, "ispname" is replaced by the domain name of the sender.

Most ISPs will terminate accounts that are used for abuse and thank you for reporting it. I got immense satisfaction and a good laugh out of terminating the account of someone who threatened me - he got a new account and ranted to me about getting shut down, so I shut down his new account too.

Most Harly riders these days are usually just the yuppie type with the money to buy one- far from being bad-a$$. The wild hogs movie comes to mindimage. Now if he said they were riding japanese bikes I might worry.

Just tell them you traded in your Harley for a M1A1 Abrams and her nephews can visit you any time at Ft. Bragg.

You can also just forward the threatening e-mail to eBay it is an instant NARU for them to threaten you.
