That is beautiful coin, no doubt. I checked VAMview sales for the last nine months, no recorded transaction for VAM 14.7. Wish I owned it. Congratulations on the find.

VAMlink.com has it as $6K-$7K, though they tend to be high. A premium VAM to be sure. It is a coin that is right up my alley for sure, as a collector specifically of PL VAMs. I don't think the OGH serves it at all and would suggest sending it for attribution if selling it. Others agree? The variety is always prooflike, generally DMPL. Doesn't look at all like an upgrade candidate and the green tag woud be overlooked in personal grading by the buyer. You do have one very, very good coin there. BTW, PCGS only shows one of the variety (MS63) but they are not reliable as they use the generic 8TF DMPL coin number for the DMPLs they attribute as the variety. NGC has two, 62PL and 64PL.

If the OP wishes to sell the coin for maximum value, then I agree that sending it in for attribution is the way to achieve that goal. On the other hand, if we have another VAM-obsessed individual in the making leave it as it is.

In any event, do put a sticker on the back of the slab with "VAM-14.7". Would hate for heirs to eventually throw it to a dealer at a common price sometime in the future.

I've done that very thing with 200+ coins.

Definitely 14.7, which officially means You Suck™! I see all the radial die cracks alongside the 1, between E and •, and by the star right of the M in UNUM. Other diagnostics are a small chip behind the ear and another one below the corner of the eye. The price range in the 8TF Attribution Wizard is $6-7K, but since there's been a dry spell during which none have sold, all bets are off, and I wouldn't be surprised at $8-9K.
So, are going to join us VAM nuts? You have perhaps the finest example of an ultrarare and very popular VAM. If it is not the finest, it is damned close. I agree with John B, it has been off the market for a long time; the variety is not selling often anywhere; and a lot of big money has come into VAMs lately. The fact that it is in a PCGS holder (eligible for both PCGS and NGC registries if retagged), makes it even more desirable. That big money also likes registries a lot, it has potential to sell for multiples of the guide estimates. Just look at the recent VAM-44 sales.
Well, the unbridled enthusiasm here is great Vammer's, but let's not get ludicrous. The finest reported VAM 14.7 is an NGC-64PL, followed by 3 ANACS-63 DMPL's. And we all know that a moderate number of others are being kept out of the SSDC condition census for obvious reasons. The authors of the 8TF Attribution Guide didn't arrive at the published Value Guide on a whim.

I think there are a couple ANACS coins as well near MS63.
Yes and some unattributed ones as well. Doesn't matter, to the top dollar guys, we know the top PCGS takes the cash. Nonetheless, like I said, it is in the census and is a tremendous example of the variety.
Dan, The price survey for VAMview consistently shows PCGS coins going for significantly more than NGC and ANACS and especially more than raw. As Dennis Halladay (westdairy here) to confirm. My own anecdotal experience is less scientific, but the spot on with his careful study. There are many exceptions but over time and over multiple sales, PCGS VAMs bring the most money.

Sad. Another brainwashed victim of Registry insanity. how pervasive. Clapp, Eliasberg, Norweb, Pittman...they're all posthumously laughing at it so hard I can hear the roar.
Dan, You overread that I pay more for PCGS coins. When warranted, I do, when not necessary I dont. I'm not saying I don't get bargains elsewhere in the "wrong" slab or buying raw with my own opinion of the coin. I'm stating the fact that is borne out by the market. You can assign the reason to any factor you want: registry, marketing, credibility, guarantee, phase of the moon. The end is the same: PCGS vams bring more.
Actually, I think you underread the original comment by Coxe and my quote of his remark. Making a remark that a coin should have added value in a certain holder because it is "eligible for both PCGS and NGC registries if retagged" is a perfect example of the silliness that is happening in the market for certified coins today. I've resisted reporting any of my certified coins to registries because I don't need the comfort(?) or pleasure(?) derived from knowing mine are better than another's. What does that matter in the grand scheme of things anyway? Money?Power? Those seem to be the sole motives for those who promote Registry sets and the perceived value associated with them.JMHO.
