Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

  • So much for modern bashing

"Somebody says, 'My dad collected coins in the 1920s' and I go look at it and it is all these worn coins from the 1850s and 1860s that were not worth that much then and not worth that much now," he said. "If he had pulled out coins that were brand new at the time ... instead of a collection worth in the thousands, it would be worth in the millions."

Watanabe said collectors on a limited budget today should go for good-quality coins from the 1980s to now.
"If the quality is good, those are the coins 100 years from now that are worth a lot," he said.

    I'll take that actionimage

"However, it is primarily a collection of American coins, and features an 1876 proof set of 14 coins from a copper penny to a $20 gold piece. The proof set is expected to bring in at least $250,000.

"That is one of the highlights," said Norman Scrivener, a consultant with auction house Doyle New York, which will handle the sale."

Received the latest Numismatic News issue yesterday; there was an article about the Damon collection, no mention what so ever of any 1901-S quarters.

I saw both the articles in the NN and Coinworld which listed some nice coins in the sell such as the 92-s Morgan and the two CC seated dollar rarites and a few other choicer barber coins, but no mention of the 01-s. Additionally, I had a freind who has a little inside info and he stated that the information he recieved, thier is no 01-s quarter rolls?? (although, they have been tight to release info)
