POPPAGE... With one really NICE hit!

For the most part, I struck out on this sub but there were a couple of high points in it. Apparently, I'm great at grading '75 and '06 Topps but rubbish at everything else, haha. Thanks to CrazyMind2017 for letting me piggyback.

VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 1982 TOPPS TRADED 98T CAL RIPKEN JR. Card - REALLY??? Must've missed a wrinkle.
VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT 4 1968 TOPPS 490 SUPER STARS KILLEBREW/MAYS/MANTLE Card - Hoping for a 5 but really just wanted it slabbed.

  • Nice hit on that Yount and Brooks.
  • This was brutal. On my previous sub, I sent in a bunch of 1986 Topps and OPC cards, many of which came back gem mint. One was a OPC Rickey Henderson pop 3 that sold on ebay for over $100. I sent in two more of the same card in identical condition on this sub, and they both came back NM. The inconsistency is so discouraging.

Also, I had a 1978 OPC Eddie Murray rookie that I cracked out of a SGC 7.5 holder that came back a 6. And the 1978 Topps Murray card that I cracked out of a PSA 8 holder hoping for a bump came back a 7.

The only good part of this sub for me was the Molitor rookie that finally came back an 8. I originally bought it for $30 as a PSA 8(PD) except there is no PD anywhere on it. First time it came back N6: min size, and when I measured, it's actually about 1/32" shorter than it should be. Sent it again and finally got the 8-NQ I was looking for. There was another Murray Topps rookie in this sub that once came back altered stock that got a 7 this time.

Then there's that 1978 Topps #282 Yankees team card that should have been an 8, but came back a 6.

Overall, not quite a total loss, but just about as close to a total loss as possible without actually getting there.

Thanks again, CrazyMind. I have no idea how you deal with '86 or any other black bordered cards. You're a brave man.

It's funny... The average sale price difference in a '75 Yount RC from a PSA 5 to a PSA 6 is less than $2. The difference in a PSA 9 to a PSA 10 is $23,306.

I swear every time I open a 70's pack, it ALWAYS has a Jim Hunter... with one bad corner.
