These Topps Vintage Christmas Rack Packs on ebay

Ok, I'm sure this might have been discussed before - but when I first got back into collecting, I bought a few of these. Now, I think I was just a sucker. Does anyone have any opinion or know if this is just a total ripoff?

There is an example auction in the link below:

They are repackaged cards, packaged by someone else other than Topps. From what I have read, most of the cards are VG to EX. I've never heard of anyone cracking one open, so I can't speak to anyone pulling a star card. But my best guess would be there would be NO stars in there.

If you do a search of the forums, you will see this discussed before and nothing good said about them.

money losing proposition. There was some listed with stars on top/back but they might have been packaged that way on purpose to increase sales either back in the day or more recently. I got burned on a 56 rack pack, commons no better than PSa 5's

For fun I bought a 1954 version of one of these packs off of Hunt Auctions several months ago. I think it was like $250. Yes, overall a money loser imo, but not by too much. I think I may have gotten a few 8s, but this is the only one I submitted.

The previous Youtube video suggest the following as well, I found it humorous, beware language... might as well start the video at the 3:47 mark to the end.

I think at that exact point he realized he got snookered, although he didn't want to admit it.

One error in judgment he made in his "evaluation" was the rusty staples - they are quite easy to fake.

    You guys are funny image

The Christmas packs are vintage. They are aftermarket repackaging of 1-12 years old cards. they are from the mid1960s and contain cards from 1952 to about 1963.

Sold in toy stores even up to the 1970s.

Buy them for the cards, not that fact they are unopened, .....they are not a Topps product even though the cards are.

    Here is another one.

    1956 Topps Xmas pack

I was thinking about it for around $100. Even then, knew I would likely get screwed. $300 is unimagineable to me, I could go get 12 commons slabbed PSA 7 and still have $100 left over. And looking at the visible cards, they are absolutely not 7's. The only hope here is that you pull a star out of the middle, but since these are re-packaged, I'd guess those are some long odds.

Just me, or is this a crazy price?

I'm just shocked FKW referred to something created in the '60's as vintage image

I was at the Hunt Auctions/Philly Show on Sunday and Hunt Auctions themselves had a stack of these racks in their "For Sale" Display case near the front entrance
