I know this is mostly a card place - but can we discuss - a bit - athletes endorsing products?

I'm gonna go way back and then we can talk about the more recent players and their endorsements of products.
The first one is Babe Ruth who worked for Quaker Cereal products:
Notice the offer on the bottom - "get your membership badge free"
here's the pin:
the Babe eating Quaker puffed wheat cereal:
And here's an ad for Soap that dates around the time he hit 60 homers:
And....
1910 - Gillette Ad - with Jennings, Wagner etc.
1913 Tuxedo ad - Tinker, Huggins etc.
1924 - D&M BB equipment - Frank Frisch and Everett Scott
1925 - H&B LS, Michigan U Ad with George Sisler
1938 - JoeD Wheaties ad:
1947 Chesterfield ad - Teddyball, Musial etc.
1915 R&M Electric Fans - J. Evers
1940 - California Wines - Ty Cobb endorsement
1957 - Bantron - supposed to help ya stop smoking - Mickey Mantle
I doubt he used this product!
Now, I know some of you may have some kind of advertising piece - or a reference to it - these ads were gotten from a sale web - not mine - anyone have any? Just about every player has promoted some kind of item that you saw and liked.
I've got alot of ideas of people to post - but I would like some of you to post some first.
If no one is interested in this topic - OK - but thanx for checking this out.

Also in 1953, the Los Angeles Rams were depicted on a Large card advertising for a local Car Dealership.
I will try and find some scans to copy & paste.
Great thread, and ofcourse GREAT pics!
Sammy Baugh & Bob Waterfield did this one below as well...
My favorites always have been the late 70's into the 80's Lite Beer commercials with the athletes and other celebrities (like Rodney). In some ways, I don't think those commercials have ever been topped.
Many are available for viewing on YouTube.
"When you order a beer, do like Smokin' Joe, order Lite Beer from Miller, and say no mo . . ."
"Billy?" "Yes George?" "You're h/fired!" "Not again!"
"Hey, you're Boog Powell!"
"Molon Labe"
I hope people are getting a kick out of the Ads - it's just amazing what a wealth of ephemera there is out there!
My recommendation? Go to an antique store or outlet and look thru the old mags and you'll find all kinds of Ads - ya might find an Ad ya like for framing.
Now - this is a good one!
I remember when Reggie came to NY - he said "they're gonna make a candy bar named after me - well in 1978 they did!
Here's a Reggie Bar wrapper:
and here's an original Reggie TV Ad.
I believe the original bars ran from 1978 to 81/2. They were re-introduced - not sure of the period but ya have to look out for people erroneously selling the wrappers on ebay as the "original" Reggie bar:
Here's an ebay ad for an "original" Reggie wrapper.
Notice the reference to Upper Deck on the wrapper? Kind of an anachronism?
Go Reggie!

And here's a football-themed ad with Starr and Sayers:
I've got loads more of this stuff in binders. Free and easy always worked for me!
