I'm really glad he didn't ask for multiple quality credit references.

"Ive looked over this card good and see no wax or fraying at all and dont see any reason why this card should'nt be a 9 and im sure a re-grade it would easily make a 8.5 or maybe a 9!"

    Nothing like a lil fluff.

  • Wouldnt a card like that be better suited for one of the auction houses? I would think he would do better
letting the high-end registry folks outbid each other

That and/or a better scan comes to mind.

How can you sell a PSA 8 52T Mantle without a real scan? Give me a break.

As for auction houses...honestly, it seems like eBay has been bringing better numbers lately.

Does the font on that label look wrong? And the sticker conveniently covers the bar code and PSA number?

The scan is so crappy I wouldn't even waste my time. That and a reserve type auction coupled with
the "it should be a 9" BS tells me this card is not something I'd even bother with.

Not that I'm in the market for PSA 8 52 Mantles. lol

Check out Rudy Tang's PSA REGISTRY ITEMS which also includes a T206 WAGNER!

It's obvious that Mr. Tang isn't hurting financially, but why he (a registry owner of many high $ cards) would leave money on the table, by not resubbing the card himself and/or at least providing better photos, is beyond my comprehension.

It'll be interesting to find out, if we do, what his reserve is for this beauty!

  • he recently sold several Macbooks and a Goudey Gherig for $12000, with the crappiest photos ive ever seen.

Mr Tang needs to learn how to market his cards better.

    Well I'm in for 2,059.99.

So I guess I'm sorta in the market for one.

  • That flip definitely looks fishy

This auction smells if you ask me, and that card doesn't look right...it just doesn't look right. Those recent card feedbacks could easily be from his buddy or mother-in-law and perhaps there wasn't any real transaction involved, just a setup for this auction. The computer transactions may have been real. All a nice setup and worth it for a possible huge scam. That's my opinion.

    lol I don't think so.

  • I never spend more than $500 on a single item on Ebay, just wait to buy it in person otherwise. Of course, I also do not carry around 20k in cash for such a purchase. Cool card to own, maybe someday.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

You wanna "gamble" on an elite card like this from a seller like this? You go right ahead...that's your prerogative.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
I didn't say that at all, don't be silly. What I did imply is that it is not the conspiracy that you have dreamed up either.

All anyone has to do is email Rudy through the PSA website and find out.

That is unless his brother-in-law and sister have him locked up in a closet and are selling off his cards.

If that is the case then he probably won't be replying.

You're too trusting Steve to just carte blanche rule this auction as legit. - and I didn't say it was definitely a scam, but yes I am suspicious that it could be...and for a large purchase like that, i'm not about to find out one way or the other.

In any event, that card is out of my league anyway.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
lol I'm not being trusting at all, and I, while not out of that league am certainly not
in the market for a 52 Mantle, I do though have a bid in on it.

Just last week I bought a T206 Wagner and an 1804 silver dollar, so I don't have enough right now for this card, besides it would be a downgrade from my PSA 10 '52 Mantle.

Hey it sounded good. I even puffed up my chest.

What I don't understand is that this guy sells computers yet can't host a better pic?

From his ebay about me page:

Interesting - I hadn't looked at that - Would be interesting to e-mail him and ask him for documentation on the bond and contact the bonding company to make sure it's legit and see if the bond would cover this ebay transaction - if I was interested in the card, I would do that.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
If you were interested in the card you would have your boy do it for you.

You would say; Boya, I said boya look into Mr Tang and see if he is legit.

Yes, if only I had the extra gelt for a PSA 8 '52 Mantle - well I can always dream. LOL
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Well the reserve has been met, the card currently is a lil north of 10k I wonder what it will end at?

I'll be in up to 15k

    Hey you never know.

  • I think IMO that ebay should qualify as 'an auction house' frankly.
My dad has a 1967 WS program autoed on the cover by most of the members of both teams.
He likes it doesn't want to sell but he knows about the auction houses but is more inclined to stick it on ebay so he doesn't have to deal with anyone else but the buyer. He's old fashioned that way. And many people are.
Funny though that ebay has become the 'old fashioned way' of selling stuff.
