Cracking a PSA slab, Aaron rookie getting cracked with pictures

I am cracking my Aaron rookie out so I decided to take some pictures to help illustrate for those that wonder how people crack them. This is by no means the only method, just my method and its one I'm comfortable with. Very nice - I use the same corner method, but I put it slightly over an uneven surface and use a hammer to take off a small bit of one of the top corners - very informative - I may try this in the future. Thanks! You start great threads Navarro!

Yeah, you got it. Personally I use wire cutters to cut the corners then a flat screwdriver to finish - and watch out for the flying plastic.

I use a wood-chipper, but I guess that works too.

I've found that using a small, flat-head screw to seperate the 2 halves of the slab works fine. You also avoid putting an eye out.

I always wondered how one cracks open those w/o damage (particurally to a key card like that one).

I hope to get a signed Aaron rookie for my signed rookie collection, and I am currently in negotiation for one. If that doesn't work out, then I will either hold this one until Aaron does a Steiner or some other show and get it signed and then encapsulated via PSA/DNA, or take one of my wild chances and send it to Aaron through the mail and see how I fare.

If I do manage to get a signed copy before I get this one signed, then I'll send it back in to PSA with my free 6 card submission from joining that I still haven't used and see if it will get bumped. I think it has a good chance to go up, and I also believe it has a close to zero chance of going down (it was a 2).

    Take care,

    Mike

I might suggest using two plyers. One holds the "card" side from bending while the other snaps the holder on the "non-card" side. Wear eye protection.
