Stiffed- You've got to read this

I actually received the cards today from "Handyman". Well it was just as bizarre as the whole ordeal has been. I open up the box with a post mark of the 11th of DEC. I ordered 1971 football Nm-Mt and mint in case you didn't know. As I saw a few of the cards they seemed very fresh. When I dug a little deeper my eyes rolled a little. He put 5-7 cards in each Card Saver which caused damage to many of the corners of the cards. 3 cards had major creases. The cards that were in a card saver by themselves were either EX-mt or NM-MT and off center at least 75/25 or worse. I even showed my kids and they laughed at the cards with the dinged corners and 5-7 cards per card saver. He threw in a couple of cards extra that were the nicest in the whole group- a 1979 Payton and a 1972 Joe Greene. He will probably say that he threw in the ones in the card savers but when I looked at each card there would only be 1 nm-mt card in the whole lot of 71's. These cards were not going in for grading. That was a hoax- unless he wanted 5's and 6's. I'm glad this is over with, even though I spent $55 dollars on $20 worth of cards. I can honestly say thank you to the numerous replies from board members on this topic. These cards would have never made there way to my house without the 200+ posts-that is my gut feeling.
Thanks,

  • First, I'm glad you got your stuff and can in some sense get a little closure. However, I'm sorry it's not what you were looking for.

I'd email him and tell him the cards came dinged etc and I want my money back.

Steve is right! Email him. You waited this long and the results are still poor. You did not get what you paid for.
Handyman knows such cards are in inferior condition--a collector of his magnitude would know. He had no right to rip you off like this. He should have come clean in the very beginning and just made things right with everyone, but he chose not to.

One member of this board should never do this to another, otherwise, everyone must pile on. Its the only way. We have to do our policing ourselves.

Mickey71, we were glad to make those posts. If we do not back eachother up, it would be much easier for others to pull a fast one in the future.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

Thats stinks! That is one of the worst things any seller could do. It happens to me every so often. I win a bunch of cards listed separately but for some reason the idiot seller sticks two or three cards in one penny sleeve. Talk about cheap.

edit: It's as if they think they get a pass because you win more than one card
  • When I'm sending 1993 Refractors, I usually try and fit 2 or 3 into each card saver. If they don't fit, I get out my scissors and do a little trim.

    works like a charm

  • That still stinks. It's not like you (based on your posts here) were vicious or threatening, you tried to make good and got a sucker punch in exchange.
