The baseball gods have heard my cry and they listened!!!

Many of you know that last week I opened two hobby boxes of A & G with no pull whatsoever. Tonight, my wife and I decided to get out of the house and head about 45 mins north of here to go out to eat and shop a bit. We stopped at Target and I told her that I wanted to go to the card section real quick to see what they had. 3 A & G blaster boxes. I snagged all three. Below are the results:

Box One:
Victor Martinez mini SP
Curt Schilling Bazooka mini 10/25
Scott Rolen Bat Relic

Box Two:
Brian Fuentes mini SP
Manny Ramirez Bazooka mini 4/25
Chris Duff mini SP
Phil Hughes no # black border mini
Jason Giambi Bat Relic

Box Three:
A.J. Pierzynski mini SP
Matt DeSalvo mini SP
Ivan Rodriguez Jersey Relic

I just wanted to say thank you oh great and magnificent baseball card higher powers!!!

  • I've had more people tell me that they've had better luck with the Target Blasters than the hobby boxes on some of the pulls. I know that the Bazooka's are only one per case when it comes to the hobby boxes.
  • Target blasters are the way to go! On my were there in the morning to see if there restocked!

I wonder if topps had some money cards left over and inserted them into late target boxes. Might be worth picking up a few!

  • I just called my dad about this. He doesn't collect anymore, but he told me that he's going to go to the 4 Target's in their town tomorrow and get as many as he can find. He told me that he can't remember when I've had this much luck with blasters.

Yea man , they're gone as soon as they hit the shelves .

Lots of times I see that the boxes have been opened up too, Man I'd love to catch that person .

The boxes are opened and the cards are laying out all over the floor getting stepped on and destroyed .

    I'm thinking it might be an employee . . . < Shrug >

For the past decade about, I spend about $100 a year on new cards in the stores and always get drech. I'll give this a try at Target and see what happens. I'm due for a few winners - LOL

I saw some blaster boxes at a Target the other day, but noticed that they were not shrinkwrapped, leading me to think they were likely searched somehow. Aren't they usually shrinkwrapped?

The 4 I bought from Target were shrinkwrapped.

  • Yep, the blasters I've seen at Target and other stores have been shrinkwrapped.

If the wrap is off, it's easy to get at the packs inside. Someone could just pull out the cardboard thingy holding the packs, search them to their heart's content, and then put them back in without any hassle.

Man, it's sad how much underhandedness goes on in the trading card hobby.

What really ticks me off is the "A&G HOT PACKS!!!" listed all over eBay...that means there are people making a living off of feeling up a lot of packs. It wouldn't be so bad if they were doing it from their own cases, but you know they're going to the Super Wal-Mart at 2 am and fondling cards 'til their hearts are content. I don't even need to get started.

  • I really don't buy all that much at Wally World anymore because people take that shrinkwrap off and the employee's really don't care. I would never buy packs that are just sitting in retail boxes or anything for that matter that doesn't have that shrinkwrap.

Anyone get some blasters today and have some luck?
  • Wal-mart does not care because they do not pay for the cards until they get scanned at a check-out.

I bought 2 Target Blasters today and pulled Bob Wickman Bazooka and a Scott Podsenik bat card.
  • I opened two Target blaster boxes last night and got nothing great.

A Puerto Rico flag, Titus, and black bordered Jack the Ripper mini were probably my best "hits."
