Somebody shoot this thing and put it out of its Misery.

Looking for bulk- PSA 10 cards any sport, any year. Ideally 3-5 of each card. If you have cards you want to get rid of, I will make you a very fair offer. If anyone out there could provide that service on an ongoing basis, even better. Thanks.

    Unfortunately yes.

I had to sell them in one lot along with the Magna Carta, Dead Sea Scrolls and the Declaration of Independence.

jph - Please stop spamming the Topps stock message board. Your "news" about Topps selling the Pit.com is old. Using a message board to start your business is small-time. Until you get an exclusive with Art Shorin over at Topps, I would hold off on the "you would have heard about it first" crap.

As for whether I am kidding or not. If you think its impossible to obtain more than 1 PSA 10 of any card then I suggest you take another look at the population reports of more modern issues.

Finally, you'll be happy to know the rabbit is now on board.

If it is so easy to obtain them then why not submit some cards yourself?

    SD
    Good for you.
  • For the life of me I can't figure out why you (and some others) feel the need to be so hostile, but to answer your post, we are submitting them by the hundreds and selling them out just as fast and need other pipelines for product.

If there are dealers on here with multiple quantities of these cards, please email me.

I will, respectfully, put my spin on this.

To be frank, you are not a regular contributor. This board is for the exchange of ideas directly related to sports cards and memorabilia.

I'm not a purist and don't mind when sports talk type questions find their way here also.

But your inquiry is better suited for the sell/trade forum IMO.

I really think some of the passive aggressive responses have been directed towards that end - perhaps.

    This is just my take.
But I do wish you the best in your business venture.

    Bull

when you first appeared on the scene you were looking for writers for some TV show. You claimed at that time that selling was not part of the deal.

Now you come here and want massive amounts of PSA 10's to sell.

That was the reason i was asking.

If I misunderstood your original post of the past week I am sorry.

To answer your question:For the life of me I can't figure out why you (and some others) feel the need to be so hostile,

That is just the way i am.

Now when can I see the 500.00 advance on my articles that i am going to submit?

    Thanks

I'll speak for myself...initially you had links to sports betting on your website. Seems as though you may have removed these links, I just took a quick glance again, but they were there and maybe they're still there. Using the CU forum and baseball card collecting to draw people to gambling so that you can make commissions off people's losses through gambling website affiliate programs, is quite loathsome in my book.

I viewed this post when it had zero responses. I respectfully refrained my fingers. Good luck. image
Proud of my 16x20 autographed and framed collection - all signed in person. Not big on modern - I'm stuck in the past!
  • I have no idea what you are talking about actually... other than the google bar at the right, we don't make a dime off of any of the links on that site. There is a line link there simply for informational purposes, just as there is a score link right next to it.

Wow. You guys are really paranoid, huh?

Paranoid heh? Your "sports odds" link clicks on to a gambling odds website which is associated with an affiliate program. My AOL browser clearly shows this in the URL - it even has the word "affiliate" in the URL. Website owners get paid through these affiliate programs for links leading to gambling websites. The website owners receive commissions off the losses of gamblers who click on the links - usually the commission is 20% to 40%, sometimes higher, of what the gamblers lose.

  • Bull,

Welcome to the board! I have been sitting back and reading the posts and I think Mike(Stone) hit it pretty much right on the head. This particular board seems to be more about collectors celebrating the hobby and not about touting websites or any other solicitation. There is a separate area for that.

I personally don't have a problem with anything you have said, but would agree that it is more suited to the Buy/Sell portion of the site.

The guys on this board are far from dummies. They can sniff out a problem from miles away. I hope that you have fun on the board and bring good stories, ideas, gripes, etc to the table.
  • We chose that site simply because it lays out the sports odds in a very clear manner and gives you a range of different oddsmakers. We are not affliates and don't make a dime. This is also the same site Yahoo Sports links out to, and linking to this is no different than posting odds in the local paper- which just about every major metro newspaper does these days.

Your AOL browser is picking up the affiliate banner ad at the top of their page which does drive you to other sites that monetize the link. It's very cute to see you using AOL as your service provider though. Let me know when you take the training wheels off your bike someday.

  • I read Stone's post and subsequently yours and thought sadly they are the only cogent thoughts put forth in this thread. I commend you two, but since I didn't promote anything in my post other than a simply looking to buy, perhaps next time a simple "this post would be better served in the Buy/Sell category rather than here" would be a little more appropriate than the Heckle and Jeckel banter that ensued with this peanut gallery.

I do appreciate all the traffic though you guys generated, we had 30 sales yesterday with a point of origination of this thread.

    Hold on Bull

I kind of pride myself as a charter member of the Heckle and Jeckel Peanut Gallery. image

As I said earlier - if you were a regular contributor and proposed this site, then, perhaps, it would have received a more "warm" welcome.

As I also said, ya gotta have thick skin to live here - if ya gettin some positive hits - then the bumps are just part of the road I guess.

However, the "banter" is part of the charm of this board and I wouldn't want it any other way.

If I want to just read about sports cards, as such, without the "charm," I can read SCD, Old Cardboard, Tuff Stuff etc.

    Happy New Year!

I am relatively new to this forum so whatever my opinion is worth is debateable to some.

Here goes, the cards he is selling are not what would I call high demand. Mr. Bullpen what market are you looking for? Most people on this board are pre-1980's for most stuff. Try selling a PSA 9 Hank Aaron from 1960 or a 1961 Unitas and you may get someone's attention. Tim Salmon just isn't going to get it done.

To be honest, I don't look at these kind of webs.

But, if you are accurate, that would be true. There's plenty of modern here, but more tend toward the older stuff.

On Bull - he took some heat - if he were a good businessman, he would take the heat and pick up any good will he may get here.

But statements how he's making hay while it's raining isn't going to make friends here.

He just, IMO, outstayed his welcome!

  • This is so comical. Reminds me of one of those telephone relay games you play as a kid. If you reread this thread from the get go, all I said was I was looking to buy some high grade cards.... that's it. No JOIN MY SITE or LET ME MAKE MONEY OFF YOU or any of these wild accusations that have emerged.

I want to buy some cards.... that statement is so offensive to this "community"- why?

A few of you decided it was fun to gang pile on me, so I didn't care. I've got thick skin, I'll play along. Meanwhile you've skyrocketed my site traffic. We are now well above PSA and knocking on the door of Beckett today.

    http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=www.thebullpen.com

So then I decide to give just a small bit back and everyone wets their pants. Too funny. I sincerely want to thank you guys for so much interest in my site, which isn't even tailored for you. It is meant for an entry level collector which is why I didn't come in here blazing HEY JOIN MY SITE or even offer to sell anything here.

I simply was looking to buy some cards.
  • How can your bump in traffic (much less "sales") be due to all the clowning your getting on this board? Where do these people come from and how do they always find us here? I do wish you well but geez, we see posts like yours far too regularly, when all we'd really like to be doing is discussing our hobby and websites/dealers we recommend to eachother.
Just glad to be here with everyone.
  • Amen brother, that's the whole reason I'm here. You will see I am not the one who took this thread off course.

  • Steve, how is a factual statement ROFL? I hope you know more about cards than you do the internet.

Bull according to your own numbers you are NOT well ahead of PSA

    BULLPEN 22,276

    PSA 70.699

When i went to school 70k was more then 22k

So how is that a factual statement?

    am i missing something here?

    Steve

edit to add I know when I see bullcrap.

    Good for you.
  • Yes, you are missing something.... it counts down from least visited to most visited. Yahoo is #1, MSN #2, Google #3, eBay #4, etc. You want to be more visited, not less. My site has a higher traffic rank than those others. That is a fact, indisputable.
  • stevekstevek Posts: 30,073 ✭✭✭✭✭
<<< You are seriously making a fool of yourself. >>>

Well you said you wanted to buy some PSA 10's so make me an offer. Shipping would be an extra $2.
  • Again, foolish because the guy who does actually own that card lives down the street from me here in Newport Beach, and there is no PSA 10 of that issue.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
You want to be more visited, not less.

LOL ok I can agree on that. Then what the hell do those numbers beside each mean then? and if they are meaningless then why did you post them?

I guess I know more about cards then the internet.

    please clarify

    Thanks
    Good for you.
  • Seriously, I'm tired. If I send you some free cards will you just let this thread die?
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
ohh the old I am tired bullcrap.

do the numbers beside the names mean anything or not?

and if they do expliain them

and if they do not then expalin why you bothered to list them.

    Steve

edit to add: no i do not want any cards. I want a reply showing your proof that your site has more traffic then this one.

and if it does that is great.
