SCD Crossover Experiment

I think we should get a couple of folks to pick up some cheap SCD cards and cross them over to PSA, SGC, or BGS. This will answer whether this is just another chop shop, or if they are legit, do they inflate their grades. I'll pick up 3 and let you guys know the results.

I already did. I picked up a 1976 fb SCD 9 common and it has already been sent in. I was pleasently surprised in its condition. It looked more like a 9 than this 1974 fb SGC 96 common which also has already been submitted.

Sounds like a plan. I just sent in a 1976 Topps SCD 10 Lee Roy Jordan myself. The card looks pretty darned good honestly. We shall see though. imageSCD 10

Zef, looking at this one again, I think you were also bidding on it. Cool.

Just wondering, are you cracking and sending or submitting them in the case?

Crack and send. The only way to go.

This should be interesting as this in the "new SCD" and not the company that Krause ran for years which I think was good.

Without question, crack and then submit.

I have cracked and resubmitted a SCD 10 (new blue label) 1983 Topps Wade Boggs and received a PSA 9. The card was perfect in every aspect except for the surface which can be seen clearly once it was outside of its holder. It had a ton of those fish eyes (faded) that could be seen if the card was tilted properly. I would say buy the card if you can pick it up cheap. I would not pay more than PSA 9 price if the card is a 10.

I sent a 26 card submission in on the 15th. The cards were checked as received on the 17th. I posted the results over on the 72-92 thread on the set registry link.

Wow, you hit it out of the park Zef. I think you did tremendously well with those.

BTW, when did you send these in and under what service level? Also, I'll assume these were all crack and resubmits based on your previous post?

Most of them were sent in under this month's and last month's $5 special. And absolutely crack and submit is the only way to go. Say yes to crack!

Well jason (just kidding Jordan!). I thought it was the classy thing to do, to spend the time to edit/correct your mis-spelled name and ID. And yes, it did take some time out of my life to do that. But if you like, I'll spend some more time and edit again, back to "jason and zep"? Nah!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anybody know if the new SCD has been known to grade trimmed cards?
