Milk spots would have been more appropriate, what this being a Cheeriios cent and all.

Yeah, but adding a half cup of non-fat milk to cereal adds 40 calories. The water keeps the calorie count down and improves one's figure image

My question here is: is it worth more in the PCGS holder or in the original Cheerios wrapping? I have two of these cents lying around.

    Hi. A couple of questions:

    1. what is meant by the "minor variety" ?? is there a difference with the Cheerios cent? I didnt know about that.

    2. I'm also interested in the pricing. What's more commercial-- my coins in the original Cheerios holder or a PCGS slab?

    3. is there any special pricing for getting these slabbed?

    many thanks.
  • I think your looking at $24 + whatever tier price you select.

so does PCGS have double standards with these Cheerios packaging ??

according to the PCGS article PCGS Link

PCGS will label any single 2000 penny with the Cheerios variety from an unopened package

but if a Cheerios package is unopened with a Sac dollar coin that has the normal rev 2000 along with a 2000 penny -
so PCGS will not label either coin with the Cheerios variety???

dont see any of the pcgs cheerios on ebay, but plenty of original wrap coins at 99-cents each. the prices on the ngc coins are not impressive.

should I even bother with mine? doesnt appear to make "economic sense" ???

can someone do the "math" for me on these things? many thanks.

It’s not about the money and value and cost of return, etc. For me it’s about the history and associated variety. That said, it will run about $60 to slab the coin of which I paid $7 for. But as Jeremy reported he sold one in a PCGS for $100 so if profit and value are your goals, you will still come out ahead.

well, for history and memorabilia sake, leaving the coin in the original packaging makes sense to me.

the only reason to have it slabbed would be for selling it at a profit.

so you talked me out of it-- they stay in the original package.

    thanks.

Good for you think of it this way if they ever go up you have them just dont open them and you can always have them graded later. image

The cent will get the Cheerios designation, I suspect. Another thought:
It would be cool to find a "WIDE AM" cent in one of them packages.

by the way, I got my Cheerios 2000 cents in 1999. and with one of them, I put it in an envelope with a window, and had it postmarked in 1999 to prove that there was a 2000 coin in 1999.

dont ask to see it now... a few years ago I sold it on ebay.
