Garbage Pail Kids

Any one try to put together a PSA set of any series? If so how tough was it? Is it worth the costs?

There's a lot of people making Series 1 and 2 sets graded. There's a few making a Series 3 set. Beyond that, I'm not sure. Series 1 is definately worth the cost of grading. Series 2 is also but not as much as 1. Series 3 and on will sell also but for around grading fees unless you hit a ton of 10's. I honeslty would be comfortable grading almost any GPK since there are so many collector's.
  • Thanks. BTW I am still interested in your series 1 singles, I am just waiting for a series 1 set to arrive to see the condition and see what needs to be swapped.

How close are you to a series 1 graded?

Have you ripped a 1st series box? if so where did you buy?

Well, actually somebody bought the lot from me on Ebay.

As for grading, I usually just grade nice ones I find and sell them. I've graded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd series before. I have about 50 more going in this week. I think as time goes, you will see many many more people building graded sets of GPK's. EVERYONE my age (30ish) remembers them fondly and that nostaglia will eventually produce many graded set collectors.

I've never opened a box of 1st series before but I have opened many packs (probably about a box worth). Sometimes I'll try to pick up packs cheap on ebay.
  • No worries.

Would you be interested in splitting a box if we can find one?

Yeah, actually I might be. Depends on the price and condition. PM me if you find anything.
  • I will keep my eyes out.

  • You interested in a box of Series 2 or 3?

    Let me know.

Maybe Series 2. Not anything higher though. I saw that a Series 1 just sold on ebay for $750, which is a fair price. I probably wouldn't be looking to split one though for a couple months when I make a new submission. I just sent one for 677 cards and it should take forever and a day to get those back.
  • Do you know any dealers that have Series 1 tucked away for sale?
  • WabittwaxWabittwax Posts: 1,984 ✭✭✭
No, not off hand. I usually just find them on ebay periodically.
  • Wabbit,

Picked up 38 pack of GPK Series 2. Any ideas, should I crack them and try to get them graded?

What does it cost to get these graded by PSA?
  • Did you guys see this one?

    Box for sale

I'm not sure of recent prices, but this seems to be in line with the market.

Uuummmm, yep, I saw it. Thanks for the heads up though.
  • (Copied from a thread on another forum: )

I was much too OLD to collect these myself ( image ). I nabbed these wrappers and dozens of other non-sport wrappers when my 3 kids were having fun. I've got a quite a few cards, too, that were a blast to go through. Some seemed to go a little "over the line"!! image

You'll notice I'm missing Series 1 and 3 wrappers. Anyone else have a copy of those?!

I'm too lazy to scan the 13 I have, so here are pics:

Does anyone have a Series 1 and/or Series 3 wrapper I could buy or trade for? I'd like to complete the run if I could...

    Thanks.
