LCS Robbery in Sunnyvale, California

Masked men rob coin dealer, torch car

I used to work in Sunnyvale, and I would shop at this store on my lunch hour. At that time, there were two owners and there wasn't a woman working in the store.

These kinds of stories are difficult but it's important that everyone know how bad it can be. Please be careful.

Thanks,
Mark

I just saw the article about a half hour ago. I still stop by there once in a while and usually around the time the incident happened. The part about driving into the underground garage initially confused me. While the shop and the underground garage are generally in the same complex, it still takes a few moments to from one place to the other.

Just to clarify, the (very petite) woman is an employee of the shop. I am uncertain if the owner was there when this happened but it would be unusual if she was at the shop by herself.

That shop has always had only one owner. Dale Harrington, the other guy, was only an employee but is no longer involved with the shop due to his serious health issues.

I used to live blocks from the store-- in 11 years I'd not had single vehicle break in. I'd walk around Sunnyvale at 1:00 in the morning with my dog without worry. It's a very safe place.

I guess that coin shops are now perceived as easier targets than banks and convenient stores. Sad.

At least no lives were lost.
In 1994, I went to the Fremont coin shop one day around lunch, looked around, bought a numismatic news, and left.
Moments later the place was robbed and the owner was killed.
They caught the perps in Vegas.
    B&M's are always targets, regretfully.
    Be safe.

Local coin store in Santa Barbara, CA got burglarized a couple of weeks ago. Smash and grab operation. Coin stores are getting hit all over.
