I vote dealer hat and sell it to me.

    <<Cross it?>>

I think that would be a waste of money. I know plenty of people who would happily buy it for "PCGS money" in its current holder.

Beautiul, either hat works fine no matter what the holder. Lovely coin!!

For your sake, the Collector hat.
    For mine? The Dealer hat!

Go full time starting with that coin.
  • A real dealer will treat it like merchendise and have no emotional attachment. That will tellyou real quick if you are a dealer or collector.

It's not always that black-and-white. Some dealers are collectors, too.

    Why did you buy it?
  • Everything is for sale. So you are a dealer.

However that particular coin is very expensive. So the collector in you gets to enjoy it for a long time, if you price it right you can enjoy it for years. image

thanks for sharing but if this coin is going to be up for sale shortly this thread may
    be in bad taste.

    A nice example. image

Price it accordingly and you can enjoy it till "deep pockets" wants it more.

Not a tough commem to find with color, so if you flip it there should be no sellers remorse.

Others have done that plenty and when I pointed out the same thing I was scolded image ....but I will tell you that if I planned to sell it right away I absolutely would not have started a hype thread. image This is more about the challenges a collector faces when he starts selling part time......being able to let go of coins that really light a fire under you.

I will tell you all right now....I am 95% leaning towards keeping this coin....I did buy it to flip but it was much nicer in hand than I anticipated and when I started selling again on Ebay my goal was to fund my collecting addicition and I haven't done a lot of that over the past year so.....I think it may be time to start image

As for crossing the coin over to PCGS...I can't imagine my enjoyment changing regardless of what holder it sits in....ok well if it was in an NGC black slab that might be the icing on the top of the cake image

Full time coin geeks are not bad people. The tin foil hats look funny, though.

    Gorgeous coin.

If you are both a collector and a dealer, wait until you have another, then sell the less appealing of the two.

Until then, keep and enjoy a very eye appealing coin.

What's your current collecting interests? Toned Morgans, or toned coins in general? That should answer your questions as whether to keep it or sell it.

  • Put a colossal price tag on it and wait. You'll have plenty of time then to enjoy it, and if it does wind up selling, you'll have a lot of money in your pocket.

use both hats and sell it to yourself at a greatly inflated priceimage
  • djdilliodondjdilliodon Posts: 1,938 ✭✭
I would sell it nd use the money for coins you collect on a normal basis. You think it has a shot at a star? Maybe worth the little money to try for it as it would maximize the flip price imo.
  • A good dealer would sell it to someone looking for a SD.image

as a collector/dealer you need to decide 'what is my core collection that is not for sale' and stick to it

whether it be a series, a box of 20 type, a group of the most awesome toned

or do what others have said - stick a price on everything - and the stuff you really don't want/need to sell - double that price

I would probably keep that coin a few months until my next 'favorite coin' comes along and then pass the enjpymeny to someone else

    but thats just me
  • Looks like it's going to be staying with me...I like all NT toned coins and the more color the better so while I don't actively collect commems...this is one of my favorite designs and it's the second SD I have owned with the first being untoned image

Sell it to Mark. I know he'd be willing to sell it to me. Then I'd put on my collector hat and it would be locked away for years. Yeah, I like that scenario. So does Mark.
