I got a roll of 2009-D(Business strike nickels) from my B&M today.Need Jefferson expert to verif

TennesseeDaveTennesseeDave Posts: 4,809 ✭✭✭✭✭
I walked in to my local B&M today and was surprised to see 2009 P-D nickels and dime sets for sale.I asked if they were from mint sets and they were not.The owner had gotten a few rolls from a bank somewhere.I picked up a roll of 2009-D Nickels.I am trying to decide what to do with them as I know they are scarce and really dont need a whole roll.Any opinions?

You could ask for $___.__ per coin on the BST and see if anyone jumps at the chance image ( You'll have to fill in the blanks )

I suggest you sell them for moon money on the BST. How about one million dollars.image

Offer it on the buy sell trade board if you don't want to keep it.

  • Hopefully its a positive sign that the D business strike coins are finally becoming available, ive held out for the business strikes knowing it can only be a matter of time.

Sell em! I don't believe any have been really sold that weren't from mint sets.
I guarantee that collectors will jump on the chance to have that, I recommend listing some for sale on eBay!

The thing about ebay and a roll of these is a seller is wide open to random bids and feedback , what might sell for 99c one day is 5 bucks the next , everybody expects a flawless example for that kind of money and theres no guarentee each and every one is flawless , they wont be , somebody isnt happy and wants a return or exchange , it can get messy.

Im speaking in terms of selling them seperately only , im not sure what by the roll might fetch.

Almost look like satin finish to me. Are you sure they are business strike?

I am not sure, that reverse is just so well struck and so few marks. It looks almost frosty on one of the pics. I have a hard time telling them apart, so I dont know how much weight my opinion has.

If these are business strikes, I would put the roll on eBay...I think they would fetch more that way. I remember all the hype with the P's, it was insane.
There is money to be made here...

I have compared the coins to a 2009 mint set and will say they have a little different finish, but not as much as I would have expected.Who's the resident Jefferson Nickel expert?

This seller appears to be having similar thoughts with very similar nickels ? Are they really business strike is the question.

The image in the auction (and the obverse/reverse in your first post) looks like a Business Strike, the second reverse image in your first post looks satin. Are these of the same coin?
