LP2 Error? Extra Page

My order came today. The shipping box had been opened and re-sealed. There were no missing sets but one of the "white boxes" had been roughly torn open.

Both rolls are tails tails. I was rather miffed because I didn't plan on opening them. The coins are rather shabby with spots and dings although one is rather interesting and appears to have an extra page in the book Abe is studying.

What do you think caused the extra page in the first image?
The P roll.

The D roll.

It is a die gouge, not an extra page. Worth no significant premium. Sorry. Neat find though.

Looks like either a die gouge or perhaps (that's a big perhaps) a tilted hub doubled die.

I'm sure if he could get it printed in Coin World along with the "Extra Page" moniker that he could get some premium.

<< <i>here is another "Die Gouge" error that's the same as yours >>

Thanks all for comments and the link to this one. image

If you compare the two it looks like there may be something going on with Abes left thumb also. The red arrow hides alot of it though.

Too bad its not quarter with a die gouge extra leaf....

edited to add: interesting that both these die gouges were found in "mangled boxes" .... from the other post - "These were all found in 1 roll of philly mints I received from the mint in a mangled box from my order of 5 sets.'

That is something going on with Abe's left thumb.

edit: from the shadows, it looks like a protrusion out of the coin. Is this correct?

The more I look the more inclined I am in saying that this is much more than a Die Chip.

Given that doo-dah on the thumb, I'm inclined to say tilted hub doubling!

(Or Bump Doubling such as on the DDR DC Quarters)

Almost looks like letters in the middle of the pages where most are low detail

    Nice find

I am thinking of getting some holders and unrolling some rolls, LP1 and LP2 LP3 LP4 as they come

I'm sure Mr. Lincoln read more than one book on his breaks or he could have turned a page now and then ....image
    ......Larry........image
  • Is anyone taking pics of the Liberty on the obverse yet??????

I dont have a scanner available, but I do have the die breaks on there as well.

    Anybody else see them?

That was the first thing I noticed. I agree with the THD diagnosis for the thumb.
That said, the straight line may be a pickup of part of the book, or it could be a coincidental die gouge. WOuld like to see the coin in hand (no pun intended).

YES, look at the E T and Y in liberty.

Specifically on the upper part on the E coming down.

It appears (looks like) that the E is melting. This is seen far easier in a loop, a scanner does not do a great job in capture.

Note also, the lower part of the L.
  • I'll try to get better pics later. Being unemployed right now has its perks, a buddy is picking me up to play some golf today. Woohoo.

  • I played with overlays to try and figure out if this could be a DDR but nothing is lining up at all. With the single squeeze press, the anomaly is in the right area, the spacing between the two are extremely close but the shapes are not. It looks like there are die polish lines so I'm starting to lean towards a die gouge and a chip. I'm hoping that I'm wrong so I can see how it was made and have another error to search for.

    Just thought I would share,
