New pics of my entire Lincoln Cent clipped planchet date set (dial-uppers, you've been warned)

I knew today would be super-slow at the office, so I grabbed the two albums out of the safe and took some high-res scans of each page for my records. I also saved some lo-res JPEGs for posting here. If anyone wants to see a close-up of one of the coins I can crop it out of the larger files and post it here.

<< <i>Don't those holders have HUGE amounts of PVC in them? >>
I know what you're thinking, but the albums I use are modern knock-offs of the old Harco albums, which did ruin many a nice collection with PVC inserts. They are made by a Canadian company named Gardmaster, and the inserts are completely inert and safe for long-term storage. I chose to use these because the edge of the coin isn't very visible in a Dansco or Whitman album, and in this collection the edge is the most interesting part of the coin.

Great! I hate seeing nice coins in those. And yours is a very nice collection.
<< <i>Fantastic Sean! What an accomplishment. How many years in the undertaking may I ask? >>
I've been working on the set for almost ten years, though the lion's share of it was assembled in the first four years. The set contains 235 of a possible 249 date & mintmark combinations, and according to an old checklist I found I had 202 of them at the end of 2001. The last two additions were the 2002 (thanks Joeyuk!) and 2005 (thanks Fred Weinberg!), which I acquired in August of 2006.
Not long after I started the set, I was fortunate enough to hook up with a New Jersey dealer, Lou Pearlman, who had begun his own set in the early 1980s, then set it aside for about 15 years. I bought about 25 of his coins, mostly early branch mints, and also upgraded a handful of the later dates as well. His set was really the foundation upon which I've been able to build.

What is most important to you? Size of the clip or condition of the coin? I can see a dilemma if you find a tiny clip on a Mint State coin vs a giant clip on a circulated coin. Then again, maybe you would just keep both!

Thanks for sharing your set. What an amazing accomplishment. Has PCGS ever tried to slab/grade clipped coins? I don't think I've ever seen one slabbed?

very sweet indeed!!!!!
JRH:
If I had one that you are missing I would GIVE IT to you. I might suggest anyone out there who has one do the same. It would be a great COMPLETED collection !!!
Joeyuk:
I did.
In one of the most awesome shows of generosity I've encountered in this hobby, Joe did in fact give me the 2002-P cent pictured above. The bounty I'd placed on the coin and which had gone unclaimed for five years went to the local Hospice in his name. Truly a win-win-win situation.
crito:
You should get them slabbed and pedigreed IMHO. Not for egotistic reasons or even for resale value, just to make it easier to keep them together in the future. Would hate to see that set broken up... very impressive collection.
Not that I'm really looking to slab and pedigree the set, but if I did I would probably have to use ANACS, as some of the earlier dates have corrosion, scratches, or other problems which would keep them out of a PCGS holder. The '22 Plain was actually cracked out of an ANACS net-graded holder. Besides, the holders would bury the rims, which are the most interesting part of these coins.

The primary goal is completeness, so on my want list it says "Any size, position, or condition considered". I have actually downgraded coins in the book for the sake of a much larger clip, for example the 1918-S. And yeah, I'll usually hang on to the duplicate too.

If you submit under the mint error service PCGS will certify clips. Joeyuk showed you one, which I cracked out, my 1915-S and 1912 were also cracked from PCGS holders.

Great set. Are you going to arrange them in % of clip?
About seven or eight years ago this seller on ebay had a clock made from clips.
Each number on the clock represented the degree of the clip. Simply done but very eye catching.
Wish I had bought one at the time.
