Possible simple solution regarding the new PayPal policies-

Inspired by wayneherndon's thread. Why don't sellers who want to continue to accept PayPal but only if not funded by credit card make this simple statement in their auction descriptions:
"Alternate methods of payment can be made. E-mail me for details."
And leave out any reference to PayPal in the auction. I figure it's an easy way around the rules. (Made a new thread so it wouldn't be buried too deep on the other.)
Ideas? Yea? Nay?

I won't. 99% of the time I pay by Bank Transfer, too.

The basic idea is that we here on the forums would know what that means from discussion, but I thought it might catch on in general after awhile.

Bidders enjoy using Paypal as a payment source with Ebay auctions.
I don't like the fees either, but when dealing with an unknown seller, it does provide an added level of security, especially if funded with a CC.
Don't bother me with that paypalsucks.com site either. I've been enjoying Paypal for years now, without a glitch.

I've been doing exactly that for like a year now. I reply with the amount of the paypal fee, and politely ask if the buyer will split it 50/50 with me.
NAY!
Reason being: Most of the time I email a seller with a question they give me some kind of non-answer, if they even reply.
Example, last month I wanted to bid on a $1,000 Proof 1897 Barber dime. Text Shipping was $16 with NO RETURNS but I couldn't tell from the pictures if it was white, toned or what because the pictures were dark & poor quality but it looked toned. I wanted to be sure what I was bidding on so I ask the seller to please describe the toning. So says he'll send me some pictures but he sends the same bad pictures from the auction listing and doesn't mention a single word about the toning. So I don't bid & it sells for a mere $800.
Another well known dealer Text had a $3000 BIN MS65 1897 Barber Half, 10 day auction, the pictures have a reddish tint but it looked like a blue purple periph, like I wanted. I ask them to please describe the toning, it was 9 days before the auction ended. No reply. The coin didn't sell. I would have BIN'ed it then & there if the seller had answered me.
So I still got an extra $4k in my pocket & 2 dealers didn't realize the max profits they could have.
So if the term aren't listed I don't waste my time.
In the meanwhile coinsbyhucky has a $3,000 MS63 1897-O Morgan listed Text and Pinnacle Rarities has a $6,000 Proof 66 1897 Barber Half listed and both of them gladly accept PayPal, without conditions. click click I snipe & win the auctions, click click & 5 minutes later the dealers have my hard earned $$ in their sweaty little hands & 5 days later I toss 2 more nice coins into my safe.
If you don't want to take PayPal that's fine. Put it in your auction that you take checks and I'll bid just as strongly. I got $$$$ & I like spending it. Make it EASY for me to give you my $$$$. If it's a hassle for me to get rid of my $$$$ then I'll just keep it in my pocket.
Dog, What does the sellers not answering questions about their pics have to do with payment options?

It's not just the picts, my point is MOST SELLERS won't answer questions about anything & even if they do they give an answer that's totally off-topic to the question being asked. Maybe it's their spam filters, maybe they don't have time, maybe they don't give a darn, maybe they don't understand how eBay messages work.
My point is that as a seller you want to make the transaction as effortless as possible. If bidders have to spend time emailing you for the terms before they bid you may lose bidders & potential $$$$, but that's just IMO, of course, but I think I make sense in what I said.
If you are one of the few that answer questions promptly then my hat is off to you ms70.

Hey that's a nice one. Guess you didn't like the one I sent you (I think it was a 1897-o)
But it was just a lowly ugly AU piece.
I still got it. Still 1 of my favorites. I'll never let it go. A lovely 1897-O PCGS AU-53 indeed.
