Private insurance (not USPS insurance) has specific subrogation rules that are meant to prevent collecting twice. If the postal insurance covered $100, then the insurer will come after that $100 if they pay out a claim. If you have a deductible, you still aren't allowed to keep the $100 to offset the deductible. -

Sellers have to wait two weeks to file a claim with the usps on empty packages shown delivered. I have had some luck on usps claims being honored on $100 or less items.
