Re: Great boxing photos

Jimmy McLarnin has many nicknames but my favorite is "The Irish Lullaby", a nickname he earned because he was a gifted boxer with a dangerous right hand that could put an opponent to sleep in an instant. Barney Ross, Jackie Fields, Young Corbett III, Benny Leonard, Lou Ambers, Sammy Mandell, Tony Canzoneri, Louis "Kid"… -
Re: What would the retail market value be for the following:
A bit of correction is needed. The OP stated "yellow flat pack proof sets for 1956, 1958, 1963 and 1964" which don't contain any staples or brittle cello, the cut-off for that was 1954-55. Past that I'm in agreement with you. Leaving the early sets in the brittle, stapled together cello pouches wrapped in tissue and a box… -
Re: Recent PSA grading results
Isn't it kinda strange that you subscribe to get the lower rate on grading, yet at the same time your subscription buys you the worst possible turn around times? If I were to sub today I'd expect that I'd get my cards back in time for Christmas rush. The turnaround time for subbing value, the level my subscription buys,… -
Re: AG $10 swings the new normal?
I'm just very glad I bought deals when it peaked so I'm living the gambler's dream of breaking even for the time being. I can't imagine what coin shops are going through right now. I would be buying more at these prices if I didn't have such a garbage spring season. I can't help but feel we will be stuck here for awhile… -
Re: Let's talk about our "Jimmy the Greek specials"

After intense scrutiny and careful deliberation by myself and my distinguished panel of expert handicappers, Moe, Larry, and Curly, I've decided that the Spurs ML to win the series, win or lose, is a pretty good value. As mentioned earlier by BLUEJAYWAY, and I agree, there's likely going to be some serious money coming in… -
Re: Can coins rust?

<< <i> << <i>They not supposed to SE92. But this one is rusty.....and slabbed >> Any explanation? >> Please see my explanation above. There are many other examples in the early Bust coinage in most all denominations that show die rust. It is not the coin that has rust, but the struck image of the pitting on the dies caused… -
Re: 1944 Steely. Opions wanted.
I don't love the shape of the date, the nose and mouth look off, and the bottom of the hair behind the ear is very hard to see. I honestly think the best thing it has going for it is the rust, which to me is an indication of both age and composition. If it is a fake, I do not think it is a modern China variety. Sean… -
Re: 1974 D Kennedy half dollar with DDO and DDR.....
Examine your other Kennedy coins using the same procedure — enlarge the fields and devices under the microscope and inspect them carefully. If you observe the same apparent ‘double‑strike’ effect across all of them, then it indicates that the optical method you’re using is creating an illusion rather than revealing an… -

Re: Geddy Lee of Rush shows off his collection
The Rush/Van Halen rivalry was big at the time and earlier. I was a huge VH fan, not Rush and when Fair warning came out, I thought Unchained was the best song I ever heard. My best friend was a drummer and Rush fanatic and honestly I blew off Rush without ever listening to them, thought I thought 2112/Temples was pretty…
