Re: Here's Another E-Bay Violator Abusing PCGS' Name -- Call to Arms!!
Speaking of scammers and thieves, my money is on the seller of the 2 items below. He previously had 2 other listings of Morgan Dollars which were simultaneously being offered by Superior, if I remember correctly. Those sales were stopped, presumably because someone reported him, but he has 2 new ones: scam 1? scam 2? -
Re: Misunderstanding with eBay Power Seller... RESOLVED!!!
Glad to see you're working it out and that he seems to be a stand-up guy about it. Might I suggest changing the subject line to reflect this? If you're convinced now that he's not a ripoff artist, why give someone new to the thread the idea that he is? If they don't read the whole thread, they might think he's scammer even… -
Re: IF YOU THINK YOU'RE SAFE WITH PAYPAL: READ THIS! Guarantee = Worthless!

Definitely could have been worse... but of course it's the principle that counts here! $20 is $20! My question is... shouldn't PAYPAL be responsible for refunding my money? I mean, how many scammers actually have the money in their account? The claim center is worthless. I always thought the point of paypal was to have a… -
Re: Paypal Scam

<< <i>I have recently begun receiving spoof emails WITH my real name and/or eBay ID on them. >> I've gotten spoofs with one or the other, but so far never with both the real name and ID. It seems to me that any scammer who has both of those bits of info, probably already has the rest of what he/she needs to you. -
Re: eBay and online scams
This thread mentions what may be an example of a scam that's gotten pretty common lately: a person steals a picture of a coin from a dealer website, and puts it up on eBay. Often the scammers trip themselves up by choosing a coin that is too scarce or attractive (and therefore recognizable). I don't really need to bring up… -
Re: 1818 Proof Quarter Mechanical Error
I might for my personal amusement since I know the history of it, but if it’s incorrect, I wouldn’t want it getting into the wrong hands. Only takes one scammer to assert its real and fleecing someone. I’ll bring it to Baltimore and show it around and get some opinions. I assumed when I first posted everyone would agree… -
Re: 1964 Topps Stand Up Roberto Clemente Recolored
never said we were dealing in absolutes. its pretty easy to tell when any newer ink is applied to an older card. now there certainly are exceptions and those professionals that restore books and classic paintings obviously. but for your standard scammer filing in ‘71 corners or ‘79 fisheyes w your typical markers/paint… -
Re: WHO LIKES CLOSE AM. CHRISTMAS BUY OF A LIFETIME 1990 AND 1992 D AND P CLOSE AM CENTS?
. I would suggest, that for starters, you go to the US Coin Forum and introduce yourself and make your profile public. Let the members know something about you. Then make posts that are not about selling your coins and ask questions about your coins. It is apparent from your initial post that you have very limited… -
I will be dealing with Heritage...
and PCGS if for no other reason than that MBT won't. That's good enough for me. I am going to up all of my Heritage bids by 50% and send all of my coins to PCGS to be crossed and/or regraded at the most expensive tier. Heck, I am even going to consign some material to the Savannah Scammer, even though I know that only… -
Dangerous phishing Ebay message
I got this via my Ebay mail today: I want to know if this is the same item with the item list at this address: http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/joemitk The link appears to be a legit ebay site, however when I went to it, it took me to an Ebay sign-in page, which I knew wasn't right as I was currently signed into MyEbay. How…
