Re: Greatest/Rarest Finds In The Wild?

My greatest in-the-wild find is this 1926 FS-101 DDO dime that graded out at AU53. (PCGS wasn't attributing them yet when I sent this in, but if it was in the pop reports, it would be pop 1/0 with the next highest graded example falling in at VF30). I bought it raw on eBay for just under $26. I have no idea what it would… -
Re: Shipwreck silver?
I think it's a fine line between slag and artifact. The ones that are well preserved with readable and understandable markings are very cool. The ones that just look like dirty lumps not so much. Wonder how they perform over time. Like if the premium increases dramatically as the value of silver falls. I don't think I'd… -
Reuters: "February U.S. Mint American Eagle gold, silver coin sales fall" ....Not a pretty picture!
And the state of the U.S. Mint American Eagle gold/silver coin market is.........??? :o February U.S. Mint American Eagle gold, silver coin sales fall Renita D. Young (Reuters) - February sales of U.S. Mint American Eagle gold coins fell 80 percent from the same month a year earlier, the slowest February sales in 11 years,… -
Re: The official 2014 Topps Heritage thread
OK, so the Embossed replace the Memorable Moments and the 65 Draft cards. I just hope the Draft Cards all fall in the case. If you only get one or two per case, that would make it a tough Master Set. Bazooka are retail only, I didn't know that. Was that the same as last year? I was wondering why I didn't get any. Same with… -

Re: Affect of rising gold prices on the St. Gaudens $20
In the past...late 80's early 90's when gold tumbled to less than $300 or so per oz, the Saints didn't seem to go down that low... at least not as low as Maple Leaf or Singolds. This seamed to me a pretty good cusion. I buy the Saint as a gold investment and if gold falls...there is at lest numistmatic value in the coin… -
Re: Coin prices indexes
<< <i> << <i>I have glanced at the charts. The overall index looks like a healthy uptrend, though vulnerable to a sharp correction. The key date and early type index looks like a late stage bubble, ready to hurt a lot of folks buying at current prices. >> Could be, but this has been one of the more crash-proof segments of… -
Re: Silver shot up this morning... anybody know why?
find it very odd when people on this board think gold and silver is the investment over all others. Things are cyclical. Right now there is a chance you are right. I agree. But down the road other things will have their day in the sun. I agree that things are cyclical. Housing has a ways to go to find a bottom, especially… -
Re: Palladium price collapse
You are going under the false assumption that when precious metals coinage gets hot, clads will automatically be "hot" too. People who sold silver coins at good numbers in 2011 didn't jump into clads. I agree that they will buy what's hot but if they're making bank on precious metal coins then they will continue to dance…
