Re: 85-CC Morgan

Maybe this explains my view of "Altered Surface" from this thread.. It was returned by PCGS last year as Altered Surface as well. I sent it to NCS, they did what they do and put it in an NGC Slab in a decent grade. I guess PCGS now agrees. Herein lies my issue with "Altered Surface". What does that mean? "......altered… -
Re: 1814- The latest in the ongoing Bust Half series
Another missing die STATE: The 1814 O-102a, R3 with the incredible sinking die. Same as the O-102 with (but not all inclusive) the coarse straight lines on the neck caused by some mint employee trying to remove rust spots on the die with by using a wire brush, and with heavy clashing of the word or parts of the word… -

The Minting Process: Planchet Preparation
The Minting Process: Planchet Preparation In this little exposé of the minting process, I'll explain how metal is taken from strips and turned into planchets ready to be struck into coins. After I explain the process, I'll go into some of the errors that can occur in the process. Before I get started, I need to define a… -

Re: Clipped 1935 Walking Lib. Half Dollar

<< <i>This one looks like a single clip, the low spot on the opposite side of the rim would be the Blakesley effect. I'm not 100% sure since it seems very minor, limited to the rim. Think of it this way, the planchet gets squeezed beteen rollers in the upset mill to raise the rim. If one side has a clip the opposite side… -
Re: My 1st Fantasy BKB Team - How did I do?
you didn't do that bad.. Nick Van Exel will get more playing time in Golden State and will definitely have good numbers -- definite keeper Vince Carter -- eh, hopefully he gets back into the old Vince-like shape and play extremely well... he is injury prone David Wesley -- actually puts up solid numbers, that really all… -
Re: Are Sacs next in line for a run up in prices.
Mitch, Re: Color changes in the Sacs, I have seen it. Right when the first Savs were graded, I bought a MS-67 2000-P from you, which had some mild spotting, common for the early issues. When I upgraded last fall and got a MS-68, I noticed that the 67 had developed a very deep golden toning in the holder, to the point that…
