Re: Should the US Mint get out of the bullion coin business?
<< <i> << <i>Why?.....A lot of major foreign Mints are also in the bullion business. We should consider ourselves lucky. Just compare their "bullion coin" prices to ours ... "sticker shock." >> Agreed. What is the big deal? Would a person rather buy a Canadian or Australian bullion coin vs. an American coin? That is one… -
Re: Some authentic bag toned Morgans
<< <i>I'm curious thought cause I have never seen one, are there ANY Peace dollars with bag toning or textile? Anyone got pics? I know they are a lot harder to find but I've never even seen one, I have seen a pic of a 1921 Morgan with beautiful textiles so there has to be Peace dollars with a nice textile or even a… -
Re: Bust half grade opinions? NEW PICS and grade revealed
Thanks JRocco I am just tickled pink,I love the treasure hunt. I have been specializing in R 5 +s . And I have spotted a few but the then the bust half experts come along and they bid way out of my price range. It is amazing how pics can totally misrepresent a coin, as they did with this one. But also amazing how so many… -
Re: Gold falls below production cost
That's a good article with lots of stuff worth talking about. Start with this: Currently the difference between the two prices (futures vs. physical) is referred to as "premium" that you have to pay over "spot" (Gold futures price). But whatever the nomenclature, the fact remains that the paper Gold price no longer… -
Re: 1951 Yankees Signed Ball

While the ball may be represented as a '51 signed team ball? I wonder. They have Casey and Mickey on the sweet spot. I'm gonna guess, in 1951, Joe D. or Casey would most likely be on the sweet spot. The Mick was a rookie and I would find it hard to believe anyone would've had him sign it there? So, I wouldn't be surprised… -
Re: Raw Buffalo Nickel
It looks as if there may be a flat spot on the Bison's hip, which is the highest point on reverse of the coin. There also looks to be some rub on the cheek and jaw of the Indian, however, it is tough to tell if that is toning or a light rub. It would be very helpful to see the coin in hand, of course. I have seen many… -
Re: Perfect coins?????
Modern proofs are prepared with specially prepared planchets that have a mirror finish and with dies that were specially prepared to impart a frosted finish on the devices (devices are the words and the dead presidents head or other designs). Regular coins are made with regular planchets that make the coins look lustrous… -
Re: Is the Long Beach show on or off?
Hall A is the usual hall... Entrance to Hall A and B is the same spot. Hall C is connected... but the entrance is on the other side of the building, probably a half mile walk around the convention center. Different loading docks too. I'm sure many people would park and go in the wrong spot... would have been a fun time… -
Re: New Low For Hotel Buyers?
<< <i>I have to believe legislation will be forthcoming at some point which will redefine precious metals fraud. This kind of thing is only slightly less heinous than burglary. >> This will never happen. One small town local coin shop buys bullion for 10% under gold spot. In the big city 200 miles away, the coin shops pay…
