A single milk spot will render an MS/PF Silver Eagle unwanted. Dealers are paying 3% to 5% back of melt for MS69 gold commems. Your money is probably better spent elsewhere. -

I have sent in several and PCGS always made good. Except for two batches of ASE's where the just returned them to me in slabs with no explanation of the milk spots still left on them. -

Not much. $2? There are countless unopened rolls out there. The coins inside usually don't look too nice either--1962 cents usually coome with some pretty bad copper-milk spots. -

PCGS no longer guarantees (and conserves for free) coins that develop environmental damage. They dropped that at least six years ago. I think the silver milk spotting uproar was the metaphorical straw. Lance. -

Nothing is said about how the silver planchets were rinsed to remove the cream of tartar and then dried. Anybody want to bet that it is the cause of the milk spots found on Peace dollars and 1921 Morgans? -

I.m going to check my ASE's and dip them in acetone, then check them in 20 years [or my heirs will {probably not} ] and let you know if that helped in preventing milk spots. :smile: -

Wow. Amazing prices on modern stuff. I bought one set and stuck it away. Looked the other night at it and no milk spots..Yay! My reverse proof is at least 69, IMHO. -

The flecks are milk spots and can never be removed. Sorry. This subject is talked about often around here. The show up on a lot of 1950's and 1960's proof Frankies and Kennedys and ASEs.
