I think there's probably the 'hot potato' factor at work, too -- The % of messed-with coins on the market is probably higher than the % of messed with coins extant among all coins as the best coins are the ones that get held onto. What do you do when you get a coin that sucks? Why, kick it on down the road, of course!… -

My BIL is a vet. He's good with cars, but I'm not making him check one out for me. It's not that I trust the car dealer. It's that I have a business I can sue if I need to and a business that (usually) cares about it's reputation. And NY has a lemon law. Random guy on Facebook? Good luck finding him again much less suing…
