Wow. Sometimes those prongs really suck! Your coin is very cool. Nice find! Retained cuds are common as dirt on wheat cents. For qtr eagles, they are much rarer in comparison, as you allude to with your long search. I would bet that examples attributed with the error only come up for sale a couple times per year. I am a… -

Very nice! I am tempted to send it to ngc because of the cost to grade. Looks like it would be $45 to grade there, not including shipping, etc. Would pcgs be $60, or would it be the normal grading fee PLUS $60? These are a neat error on a gold coin... not super rare, but not super easy to find either, particularly a nice high grade example.
