When I dismissed linear weighting system, I was referring to the fact that each hit was incrementally equally better than the last, the same as how SLG% and therefore OPS does. Joe, Actually, OPS tends to value the walk less. Here is why. Ops comprises two components, OB% and SLG% that are given equal weight. Pretty cut and dry.
