Thanks Type2, you reminded me that there is actually a subject to this thread that I wanted to comment on. Travis, there are some products, such as "E*Z*est", sometimes refered to as "E-Zest", and "MS 70" that people use to dip coins. Hi Travis, 'dips' are weak acids that dissolve a thin layer of silver, including the tarnish, off the surface of a coin. On a proof coin with highly polished surfaces like the one Russ posted, this will remove spots and haze, and it isn't a big issue on a proof if done quickly enough, since the surfaces are so smooth.
