Re: Silver, Gold, Platinum Eagles, Buffalo Issues, Mints Intentions, Historical and current sales data f
post by 7over8 Sunday December 14, 2008 12:41 PM Coinboy - The bs about the POS system and vendor stuff has no bearing on what happened with the plat unc's. There are many assumptions, but a new point of sale system and vendor doesnt explain why orders exceeded actual stock by hundreds if now 1000+ coins for some options,… -
Re: Silver, Gold, Platinum Eagles, Buffalo Issues, Mints Intentions, Historical and current sales data f
An interesting question, Eric! I agree that making 2008s is no big deal in terms of the fluctuating price of platinum and left over stock from 2007. I do think that we will see sales of 2008 platinum eagles and further suspect that the numbers may be on the low side given the recent price run-up of the material. If this… -

<< <i> << <i>Wouldn't it be wild if the First Spouse series mintage falls into the triple digits. >> That would be the "event" that would get some attention and give the series "longer term" collectibility. Say at least 5 to 10 years out. I just don't see a lot of current interest. The Grant proof piddled along for over 2… -

<< <i>Enough with the buffalos........... What about the plats?? Proof and burnished?? Another melt down and there are going to be some real interesting times. >> Yeah, what about the Plats as they continue to languish compared to the 2008-W AGE's and Buffalos yet are OK comapred to the 2006-W AGE's. If they made the… -

<<The Reds Books moderns coverage and mintage tables are a bad joke.... because they just dont care enough about moderns to cross check their work. >> Soooo...assuming the Red Book is using seriously flawed numbers for moderns, including the Plats...and assuming quite a few collectors are using the Red Book as a… -

I remember quite a heated discussion about 900 08-w plat unc sets being bogus.......seems like the numbers have confirmed that too!!!! My opinion from Nov 12, 2008................................ For the UNC-W's With the 4 cn set going dark at 1250~ The 1/10 reverting back to 2100~ The 1/4 at a falsely reported 2500~ (I… -
Re: Silver, Gold, Platinum Eagles, Buffalo Issues, Mints Intentions, Historical and current sales data f
In modern times there has only been one real oppotunity to corner the market for a particular coin or series. That was for certain 2008-W issues in fall 2008. Especially the platinum issues and in particular the platinum burnished 2008-Ws. All it would have taken was 1-3 million dollars and you could have had a shot at… -

A few thoughts . . . WOULD THEY DROP THE BIG COINS AND KEEP THE LITTLE ONES? Maybe, if sales of the big platinum coins fell off a cliff. If bullion prices go up sufficiently, demand would probably shift in a big way to the tenth-ounce and quarter-ounce coins. At some point, supply would have to follow. An early indication… -
Re: Silver, Gold, Platinum Eagles, Buffalo Issues, Mints Intentions, Historical and current sales data f
I have been watching the post on all the various boards and one of the favorite topics of discussion is the falling prices of the 25th anniversary set. Flippers are concerned because their short term margins are falling and being that I am concerned about non collectors making a killing (NOT) I started looking through the…
